Gabe Newell let slip that the games press aren't the only folks approaching valve these days. The Secretary of defence has been in touch with Newell about lending Valves technology to the next generation of military training tools. Additionally, an institute dedicated to autism is interested in using Half- Life 2's facial animation scripting to help teach autistic children about the ranges of facial expressions.

Yeah, video game graphics are getting really good. I hope Valve will license the source engine for free to that institute dedicated to autism. It is nice to know that a computer game can be used to help people now.

On a side note, I want to see some machinima on The Source engine. Something like The Blood Gulch Chronicles, except with lip synching.

perhaps for pple with speech impairments?
i don't know tho...i would think u need a person to help u at times.. but perhaps the lip snyc technology could help with practicing or some such.

thats the one thing that jumps to mind which would help.
theres probably other technology in the source engine as well which could be useful.

That does NOT fill me with much hope, lol. The military looking at acts of oppression from combine scum is a recipe for disaster. Then again, perhaps they're just going to reverse engineer the manipulator, hehe. They've never been all that stable, IMO.
