Green collar. In HL1. Probably was some kind of control device, but as you set them free (suposedly) in HL1, they no longer have to wear it.

They weren't. As I understand it, they were forced to fight you by the Nihilanth (the final boss).

Um...what? They are your ALLIES. They would not try to kill you.....how would you know anyway...hmm? They no longer wear the collars in HL2 but they did in HL1. Am I getting through here?

You see them doing that in the bink with mossman in the lift. They seem to be powering up a machine...

In HL2, they are not slaves anymore but allies so they won't shoot you.

I don't know what you mean when you ask what machine they are powering, but in one of the HL2 movies there is a vortigaunt helping Dr Eli Vance, on some machine maying as a mechanic?

When you're going down in the lift before meeting Eli, you catch a glimpse of some vortigaunts using their green lightning on a machine.

I odn't think so, i think they just look that way...i think it looks cool though, more alien like.
Vortigaunts may however have different models for each, maybe it was just that one that looked...

Maybe they are the same ones that were around at the time of HL1, but were freed, and its now 10 years later so they look older.
