Just like many of you, I've spent quite some time diggin' round the forum, trying to make sense out of the plot and I thought, well, wouldn't be nice if someone actually wrote a book about Half-Life, fiction such as Dune? I'm sure there is more the enough speculations (alright, and few facts, too) here to create one already, but it would be nice to have something "official", I'm not thinking of "Raising the bar" sort of thing, rather a book focused on Freeman and his, ahem, adventures. Of course this is quite unlikely to happen soon, since HL3 is on the way and VALVe would't like to spoil our suprise, but it would be a nice collector item, something you show to your kids (or grandchildren!) in the years to come, to keep with your HL1+2+3+X CDs/DVDs, "Raising the Bar", the crowbar, and those sentimental memories (read: screenshots) for all those hours spent [wasted?] hacking headcrabs to smithereens. I'm sure it would clear-up a lot of the questions that are bound to keep bouncing.
And on that matter, whou should be the author?
Mark Laidlaw
Stephen King (hm.. maybe not...)
Artur Clarke (is he still alive?!)

[Oh you know sonny, when I was your age {the grandpa' waves the crowbar in the air}... blah...blah]

I think it's a horrible idea, but only Marc Laidlaw could really do it

Okay okay I'll get right on it! Jeez...

Nah, converting video games to books sounds like a not too good of an idea. Not even Half-life.

Only if Mr Laidlaw would be interested in doing so... I don't much like the idea of someone writing a "book of teh game!", like many games do get (I hear the Halo novels are a mix: the worst being the one that basically describes in detail what happens in the game..). Marc's short stories in RtB sounded pretty good and I'd be interested in a novel by him and him alone.
