Weird glitch.

So I was playing Ep1 again yesterday, and I came across something rather strange. I took a screenshot.

Two fallen gunships.

I can't for the life of me figure out how they got there, because they obviously aren't supposed to be there. Could it possibly be because I turned the AI off for a few seconds? Would that cause them to crash?
