What do we know about Half Life 3 so far? *spoilers*

Ok this is a thread where we can put all the stuff we know about Half Life 3. Just so we can keep up to date.

Absolutley. We've alrwady written a continue of a story and there are still lots of stuff to tell. We also want to develop other characters int he game such as Alx, Barney and Dr Kliener, something we'll do in various expansion packs to half life 2 in the future but also half life 3. Right now were working at extreme pace to finish half life 2 and i wont talk about half life 3 in a long while (laughter)

VALVe's going to undertake smaller projects i.e. Single player expansion packs, finish Day of Defeat: Source and hopefully Team Fortress 2.

VALVe will probably take a good six months to a year before starting to seriously work on Half-Life 3. 6 years developing Half-Life 2 took alot of energy out of these people. They rightfully need thier rest, but if you look at it this way... VALVe has the Source Engine, am assuming Half-Life 3 will probably run an more advanced version of Source, and will probably run on a more advanced physic engine. (Havok 3? ) But nevertheless, you think about it. Alot of the work is completed already.

Exactly- the timefactor for expansions and HL3 is more like a year or so, as long as they stick with Source (and it would be financial idiocy not to)... think of HL1 to HL2 and onward as like UT'99 to UT2k3- creating the new engine- and then *bam* out comes 2k4, discussion of 2k5, and a bunch of expansions...

Not any time recently, but when HL2 was first announced a year and something ago, it was also widely announced that the reason TF2 became vapourware was because they decided to switch to the source engine instead of working on their own brand new engine, but couldn't announce the change because everybody who knew about source had to sign a NDA. Apparently TF2 had continued development during all that time that they remained silent on the news front, but on the source engine. To my knowledge it has never been mentioned again since.

Here's my idea, Grand Theft Auto: City 17. Think about it!!! It would be great, you'd have better weapons to work with, all the civilians would be armed becuase of the rebellion, and you could jack those helicopters and armored trucks the combine use. Oh, and you could curse a lot and listen to rap music!!! Man, that would make a great sequel.

In a way, that's already happened. Gordon has become a Messiah figure to the resistance, just like Neo was in The Matrix. There is already a war between Combine and Humans, given the last few chapters of HL2.

I'm hoping it will have something to do with the satellite that Freeman launches in HL1 - because thats something of a mystery I thought would be revealed towards the end. Also, I was dissapointed not to end up in Zen at all in HL2. I enjoyed the look and feel of those levels in the original.

back on topic - hl3 will probably include a much updated graphics engine. No doubt Valve will start work on HL3 sometime this year, if they havent got a team on it already...
