What if you format after buying off steam?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but if you buy via Steam, will you be given a key that lets you download the game an infinite number of times?

You'll have your Steam account, it will remember that you have purchased the game. You just need to log in again.

and you can always backup your steam folder so you dont have to download the games again.

Searching the HL2 forums for the word "format" would have brought up this result from yesterday.

I know it's a pain in the arse, but this is a very common question that gets answered a lot
