I just want to say that it is my favourite weapon/projectil. It's just spectacular.

yep, it's ammo for the i-rifles secondary function. an energy ball that bounces all over the place. you can only hold 3 at a time so if you walk over it, you may not be able to pick it up because your capacity is at max.

I do the same with grenades when I'm out of secondary for the SMG

Notice when you walk up to it, it tells you your alt fire for your pulse rifle is full? maybe thats what it is.
