When buying through Steam?

Hi..I have looked for an answer for this one but not found an exact one and some have been contradicting...If I purchase say the silver package and HL2 comes out and its d/l'ed on 1 machine, say I get a new machine can I d/l it on that and use it?

Also can you logon with a Steam ID on 1 machine at a time or more? In other words to play on 2 machines on a LAN would you need to buy 2 copies.

you can't use it on 2 machines online simultaneously

but you can reinstall Steam on as many computers as you wish, but if they're all yours

This is not entirely true, I have three computers at my house, and my brother wanted CS:S on his computer and he used my other brothers account to install CS:S on his computer, they could both play online, but not on the same server. If that is want you mean I apoligize.

no, what I was trying to say, is that it's illegal for 2 people to play on or offline using the same STEAM account

In my experience, that's not possible... it's possible to do a LAN game... but not going online... someone will get a "ticket expiration" error message...

MY brothers did it, but they both bought the silver package, as well as me. But they did it and it did work, they told me that they were going to do that, and I told them it wouldnt work, but it did. Yeah I think it is illegal though. But now all three of us have the silver package seperatly on the three computers.

If you all bought it with seperate accounts, then of course it's possible... it's just not with a single account...

I am not trying to be a dick, but I swear to you that they did it! I watched them do it, because I told them it wasnt going to work so I stood behind them (so that I could laugh at them when it didn't work) and they did it it worked!

EDIT: it was done with one account on two computers.
