Where are the Half Life 2 maps?

Looking to start editing for Multiplayer

I don't think the SDK actually comes with the .vmf files to open the HL2 maps in the hammer editor. It comes with some sample maps I believe, but the game maps are already compiled and I don't think you can edit them.

Is that what you were asking?

I read there were Half Life 2 maps you could edit...

There are some sample maps they included. Check in /SteamApps/Your@email/SourceSDK/sdkcontent/maps. They arent real maps but rather are examples on how to do certain things. Quite interesting to a Hammer noob like me.
