Where to actually find the air boat

OK, I am a dingus. I know it, so do you now. I have been RUNNING through the entire Water Hazard area without the air boat, which is NOT easy. Didnt even know there was an air boat to get. DOH! At least I see (via searches) I am not the only one though.

I am at the jump part, where you need to push the washing machine on to the elevator thing to raise the jump. This is where I realized I must have missed something, cause its impossible to jump it without some type of vehicle. A little searching here and I realized the folley of my ways.

I have gone back and re-started from previous level before Water Hazard. But, I still cant seem to find the airboat. Where the hell do you get it at? Anyone know tha actual map name its on? Directions to help a lost traveller, something? I dont want to have to cheat to spawn it. Any help would be appreciated guys (and gals). Thanks

Hmm it was such a basic thing that I honestly forget how I got it. Bravo on getting that far without it though.

You see the air boat when you talk to that lady at the start of the canal level. She tells you to get on the air boat which is right in front of her.
However I heard some ppl cant see the air boat cause of texture problems.

Do you mean the women hiding in the pipe on her knees that goes "PSST...OVER HERE" and explains that there is another aid station down the tunnel? That woman? That is the only women I can remember right now.

nooo, much farther. it's after a little section where you see (i think for the first time) those black missiles that when touching ground open and release headcrabs. you fight some zombies along the way.

also, this section is the first time you actually come in contact with hazardous material

She says that the only way to get to... is to get in the air boat.
And just in front of here is a small canal the air boat is just to the left. Very easy To see. Could be something wrong with your textures

I wonder if I had the texture issue, as I dont ever remember seeing the damn boat. Or, it could be me looking around going "OOHHH, AAAHHH, such pretty graphics" and not paying sufficient attention to what I am doing...LOL

Gonna go back now that I know where to go to.

Finally...

I've spent too much time looking for this spoiler...

I even registered JUST to reply.

So now I'll tell my story of being without an airboat -

It took me a few minutes to realize I had to hold the use key down to raise the gate and keep it there. After that, I looked below and saw I could walk across the edge of the radioactive waste (or whatever it is). I had 68 health / 15 armor. I jumped from edge to edge, crowbarring the boards out of my way, and then "LOADING..." paused me. I lost another (unnecessary) 15 health as my computer struggled to catch up with itself and I barely made it out with 2 health.

I saw the red barn in the distance and thought to myself: FREEDOM! Fill the whole interior with health/armor rechargers! No such luck... a zombie threw a barrel at me and took me to 1 health, and a lone headcrab finished me off a minute later.

All on normal mode... not easy.

I LOVE THIS GAME! Thanks again, posters, and enjoy!

OK, I have successfully went back and found the airboat. How the hell did I miss it the first time around, I really cant say. It was right in front of me...DOH!

Thanks for all the assistance guys, as I would have frustratingly kept going without it.

Sad part is, from some of the responses, seems a lot of people are doing this too. Should sticky a thread about the airboat to help all us lost souls out.

The whole time I was cursing at Valve for 2 reasons. Making it SOOO damn hard, while I am playing only on normal. And making these long ass water ways, with boring scenery in it, and these damn frickin helis of death from time to time... :angry:

In reality, it was completly my fault, for missing the boat and trudging on anyways despite the suttle signs along the way. Jumps here and there, and I am thinking...what the hell is THAT for???

It was soo much fun once I got the boat, as I knew every single script start point on Water Hazard now. Where every helicopter script was, every head crab, every guy on a repelling roap etc... All because I must have died 192 times getting to the point at which I got stuck... :cheese:

I have no idea How anyone could possibly miss that airboat. I even replayed the mission just to check. The only possible way to go is directly to the woman who tells you to take it, and the boat is right in front of you!
