I want to play!! But I neither have Battlefield 2 retail or any skills. If you guys give me advice(aka, I know not how the game works and how to win) I might pick it up and join in on the fun.

You definately should pickup BF2, playing with a bunch of HL2.netters or people you know makes the game infinitely more enjoyable. The demo gives a good idea of the gameplay but it doesn't include the 'social' aspect which makes it enjoyable. Nothing quite like two HL2.net heli's duking it out while yelling at each other on TeamSpeak :E
