Currently gmail has the highest storage limit of 1000mb, or 1gb.

Hotmail and yahoo are creeping up on them. Nothing compared to gmail, hotmail 250mb and yahoo 100. But one day they will reach it. Not to mentino hotmail has a 2gb service for only 20 dollars a year...

Do you think that gmail will raise its limit for free? (in the next year or so...)

Not in the next year, it's still beta remember - they need to work on additional services.

But give it time, and they will inevitably have to raise it.

im currently on 11mb of my 1000mb storage limit.
So, not for awhile... but ive tended to save emails i'd usually delete on hotmail or whatever... which is good but most are useless emails.

If you need more then 1GB your generally in the position to pay for it so people can go to hotmail. Google is for the ordinary internet user generally :)... I hope

I can't imagine a time where I will ever even approach 100mb let alone 1gb...they don't need to up the limit if you ask me.

Yeah... probably they will. Maybe not right away, but in a couple years or something....

I also consider that they might depend on people not actually using all their 1gb, and if enough people did that they should raise the limit they'd be in trouble maybe :o

and btw, I use my gmail account for school, I send my assignments to myself, so I don't have to carry a disk (I lost my usb-key last semester).

It doesn't take all that many attachments to start filling it up. I've used 9 megs, but have only used it for about 2/3 weeks. So it's not really all that much....

I don't care. I'm only using 12 megs right now.

everytime i read gmail on this forum, i think i read gman :(
i really dont know... lol

unless you are running a terrorist organization or using the mail for ur company ur quota will not excel 1gb..
and i dont think they will go beyond that ..
and i wudnt want them to ...could you imagine webhosting like that ? for free i wonder how they do it.

lol omg im using 11mb too :D

i think they should let people get better use of the gmail, like some kind of data hosting service. but yea i know, spammers and people-who-use-it-for-the-wrong-reasons will come out of everywhere using a free 1gb hosting opportunity, if they can.

Seriously, YOU DON'T NEED OVER 1 GB OF E-MAIL STORAGE!

Good god, 1KB e-mails really don't fill up very fast.

I occasionally exchange some MP3's with people :E

Currently at 44 MB, which is 4%!.

"Good god, 1KB e-mails really don't fill up very fast."
ahhaah
lol i wish u could tell hotmail users taht .
im so tired of having my hotmail fill up all the time .....do any of u guys hav gmail invites ? need one for my friend

I don't think so.. 2gb in hotmail is way more than you're ever gonna need.

Since hotmail has upgraded I dont use gmail any more, Im used to hotmail and it has more then enough space for me :)

I still haven't even got over 10 mb on my gmail account... :|

gmail is so fast tho - im jus dissapointed about the limited attachment size

yeah me too. I have this sweet hl2 video (like 10 seconds) and its 20mb so i cant send it or post it!

Plus, the "10mb" that gmail has also includes encryption and what-not, so really it'ss less than 10mb as the FAQ states,

I don't see the point of such large accounts, so I don't think they will raise it.

about that hotmail...I live in Netherlands but my hotmail is still 2mb... i've heard from ppl here that their account has allready been upgraded free of cost.. when will it happen in Netherlands, If it's gonna happen?

anyway... for now i think 1 gb is more then enough... allthough they might be thinking about bigger attachments sizes..

my hotmail gets too much spam though - my gmail hardly gets any at all... i mean i have had about 2, thats all.

I'm on 15% (146MB) as I had to e-mail all the photos I had of the end of college to a friend. I don't see myself using 1GB normally though.

I was only on 20% of my 2MB Hotmail allowance before they upgraded it (today :)) to 250MB.
