Will there be a Half-Life 2 demo?

Like the demo they released with HL1, something not related to the actual game but does what a demo does, show off game play, graphics lets you get a feel etc for the game.

I am gonna buy the game in january or so when i get my pc upgrade, only running athlon 1.4ghz, 512mb 266ddr, and geforce 4 ti4200 128mb. i want to play hl2 in all it glory at high res.... but i wouldnt mind playing a demo for now to have a bit of fun with??

or am i being stupid and should just go get hl2 and play it now!?

Welcome to the forum...i hope you dont get flamed for this, as its quite a silly suggestion.
The game is out so theres no point in making a demo, and its simply too expensive for a pointless task. Buy it...you wont be disappointed

yeah can see what you are saying, but, probably wrong here, wasnt the original hl demo released a couple months after the release of the game?

Unfortunately i missed the start of the Halflife revolution, so i dont know...but i do recall Doug Lombardi saying they looked at the cost of releasing a demo and quickly forgot about the idea. I don't know if things will change, its unlikely...since they valve have all gone for a nice long holiday Once again buy the game, its quality.

well valve are releasing a patch for hl2 tomorrow so we know they're not all on holiday and Halflife1 had a demo AND it came out after the game itself

My brother runs a 1.6ghz p4 gf4 mx440 and 512mb ram pretty decently, with low settings @ 800x600.

meh, graphics aside the game will run on your comps fine with certain graphic settings, even if the graphics look like crap on your comp the game has some kickass gameplay, physics mmmmmm. Just buy it anyways, play it on a shitty comp, then when you upgrade one day it will be that much more enjoyable.

I don't think they will release a demo. But anyway, Geforce 4 TI 4200 is enough to have some fun with the game.
