i've been a halo fan ever since the xbox released and play halo LANS all the time and I waited in a 3 hour line to get my halo 2 at mid-night. Well im very very very disapointed in what bungie has accomplished with this game. :( It fells kinds like a expantion to halo or a moded PC version.

-Story line sucks my ASSHOLE.
-Ended is plain out DUMB AS SHIT
-took me 5 1/2 hours to complete (normal) by my self, and watching every cienametic.
-I didnt even get stuck on the game once!
-It felt like a huge 2,200 yard hallway with enemies (with same exact AI) in your way.
-Added few alien weapons.
-added 2 crap vehicles.
-added some lighting effects

and whalla there you have it im soo pissed i spent 50 bucks on this lard of poop. Oh well back to some halo 1 LANS next week. (oh and my halo buds hate Halo 2 too.)

What about the multiplayer? What did you think of that?

'Tis a shame you don't like it.

I'm finding co-op, multiplayer and single player all great fun.

Haven't decided if I prefer it to Halo yet (that'll take at least a few weeks of hard play to work out)

2 new vehicles lol, you sound more to me like a hl fanboy that played the game for 1 minute.

Every real LAN halo player knows this is halo 2 is pure mp godness (this made me forget about ut2004).

As for the story line its suckie but the gameplay....AWESOME :borg:

i play mulipayer on halo with 16 people and their all in the same building that some much funner than xbox live.

xbox live is ok....well if you played halo PC multiplayer then youve played halo 2 xbox live.
Halo multiplayer has to be linked its sooo much funner with a house full of friends and pizza and just killing each other for hours.

Its like, you either like it or you dont... and I hated PC version. ;(

LAN parties are great - but too much hastle to have regularly (unless you have 4 Xbox's and tv's in your house :))

That's when Live fits in - Halo with your mates, but convinient (plus a screen to yourself is always welcome)

hahah. i think halo2 mentally challenged you :O

* that " i think . . . " is a joke btw, though it seems to have some truith.

Come on it cant be thaaaaaaaaaat bad. Only 5 1/2 hours?!? This game keeps getting shorter with every new thread about it jeez...

But Im glad to know at least someone realizes that its not some kind of god game. I say its just a fun little sequel to halo n thats that. :)

5 1/2 hours - on normal difficulty (which aint hard, being basically 'training mode' ;))

I'd like to see him finish it on Legendary (which is sooooooo much more fun/rewarding btw) in that amount of time.

It may not be a 'god game' (whatever that is :)) but it's still the most enjoyable game i've played this year.

I think i might start it again on Heroic (finished it on Normal last night) but so far i like the first one much more, even though its repetitive, it still offered more fun at the time.

Does anyone actually think the enemies in Halo are cool? If you ask me its the worst enemies in a game ever..well almost anyway..i got really much hatred for those little laughing bastards...first time i saw them i was like.."Is this a joke?"

Give it some time - I found normal pretty boring/easy. It's just run and gun. A room full of elites will fall without too much trouble.

I'm getting my ass handed to me on Legendary now :'( Areas that would take a minute or less on normal are taking 20-30 mins (not through repeated dying so much, more sneaking about and hiding like a scared girly), and a single elite is a super hard opponent.

Frustrating at times - but much, much more fun.

(seems much tougher than the original - which was bloody hard lol Halo 2's Heroic seems to be more on par with the 'old Legendary', if that makes sense)

Since i dont have an xbox and dont care to play Halo 2 can someone PM me the storyline? I wouldnt mind knowing what happens next after playing halo on PC...

I tried playing it on Heroic again and i just really can't be bothered, as i know that every single battle is going to be the same, they just fire faster and take more hits. I dont think i can really be bothered. I love playing Ninja Gaiden on hard because its the ultimate reward to take down 80 guys in a room in less then 3 minutes, using all the combos and weapons and shit, its awesome. I'll give it sometime but for now i'm Halo'd out.

I actually find Halo and Halo 2 become very different games on harder settings.

Normal/easy doesn't require any sneaking about or tactical planning (the 2 reasons I like Halo so much). It's very 'Serious Sam' ... run into a room, shoot everything, repeat. Whack up the difficulty and the experience changes completely (at least for me)

The battles will be very different. Only playing on normal is like playing cs with bots instead of going online ;)

I got Halo for PC... got far and then got stuck on a level and just never went back to it. It was a fun game for the most part.. when i was stationed in Korea, we would have XBOX LAN parties EVERY WEEKEND!.. It was fun but, i guess im so burnt out halo that i dont even really care to play the second one...

Im tellin everyone that Half Life 2 is going to be so much better than Halo 2 anyway (alot of nay sayers out there about half life 2), despite the platform difference. Half Life 2 is going to stomp a mudhole in any FPS to come in years.

it's a halflife 2 forum, of course the majority of peopel are going to say it sucks :X

Im holding off on my judgemnet with halo 2 right now. I have been playing it for the last couple hours and from what I have played it doesnt feel anything like an expsansion like poeple are mentioning. To me personally it didnt feel like it had the halo kind of attitude I loved in the first one. I think it might have to do with the size of the levels though, they feel much bigger.

Im not to sure about the story line though and I think I am going to have to wait untill I am finished the game to comment on that.

The one thing I can say I dont like though is the lack of human ammo in some of the levels. I personally dont usually like using the cov weapons and I went through half a level with and empty gun meleeing people and using the occassional grenade where it would help. When times got desperate I changed to a cov weapon. Luckily I had a couple marines beside me so I wasnt in deep shit running around meleeing everyone. And I fealt guilty taking their weapons aways from them so I didint.

After not playing console games for a while because I have been busy with some pc games for a change, halo 2's graphics seem dated and dull. I dont know if has to do with frame rate hits, or bungie being lazy, or if the xbox just cant handle anything better. In my opinion the rainbow 6 series on xbox has much sharper looking graphics.

The scorpian in halo 2 feels a bit slower then in halo 1 but this may again be to the fact the I feel so small when im in the levels now. Another complaint I have is that im finding it hard to distinguish between some of the cov because a lot of them have this brown looking colour, unlike what I remeber in halo 1 where the grunts, jackels, elites, hunters where vibrant and colourful. I like knowing what enemies I kill. Its not that hard when you take a closer look but when your are running with guns blazing and are trying to take out the most dangerous target it helps to have some contrast between the two. I also noticed that the hunters seem to move much faster and their bodys are more stretched out and higher then prevoiusly, they are also not nearly as hard as the hunters in halo 1 where to defeat. The hunters in halo 1 seemed very bulky and slow much more like a tank. I dont get the same satisfaction killing a hunter in halo 2 as I do in halo 1.

On a brighter note a lot of the humour in halo 1 is also in halo 2, except for sarge who I think needs a bit more humour (howevor im still not finished the game so dont hold me to my workd on that one.).

I was looking forward to a great story in halo 2 to continue on from halo 1 but I find (from what I have played) the story to be less interesting, it doesnt feel like its got the science fiction element in it and is more like a fantasy. Another thing I am up in the air on at the moment is the level design, there are some parts of levels the I said to my self "hey this is exactly like the corridor in halo1 where the invisible elites, are hiding in the corners".

As for the AI, The AI is terrific in halo 2 on hard and legendary.
some times halo 2 feels like its moving really fast and at other times it feels like its moving really slow, its not bulky like the first one. However I personally liked the bulky aspect of halo 1 because I fealt like I was really in the midle of the action being 3 feet from a grunt with my assualy rifle. I dont know what is wrong with halo 2, it might be he fact that I cant mow down 4-5 grunts in a row with my assualt rifle which I loved in halo 1. I could do it with the SMG but it just seems so wimpy to me. I guess this is all to be expected though our else it wouldnt be called halo 2 and instead be called halo 1.5 or something.

I have not played multiplayer But I am looking forward to it.

Im looking forward to finishing the game tomorrow. I dont know what I would rate this game but I know I definatly would not rate it a 10 but I wouldnt rate it anthing lower then 7.5 from what I have played right now. So somewhere in between their. I will have to finish the game befor I make a final verdict.

yeh, all the vehicles seem alot slower [ mainly ghost, banshee and scorpion ] but 2 of those now have boost and 'tricks'.

the only covenant weapon i use voluntarily is the energy sword and the brute rifle [ duel weilding, they own ].

MP was the most attractive factor to Halo 2 to me. I play MP more than I play anything now. SP is just a bonus. I must say...I'm impressed at how much fun I'm having with the MP.

ive got halo 2 and i have to say it wasnt a dissapointment to me
there is a problem with the sound though when your trying to hear wot sumone is saying but the music is louder so you dont get to hear but other than that its awesome and its story is great. i loved the first one i finished it on all difficulties over about a year and im going to the same for this one.

Halo 2 is definatly not a disapointment but, im just wondering if its just my speakers or does everyone have the same problem that you cant hear the covenent voices very clearly in the cutscenes?

I felt Halo 2 was a disappointment. I like halo a lot more. I felt like Halo 2 was more of a mix of farcry and UT. Now i am i little frightened that HL2 might not turn out as good as i hoped. But valve showed off more of HL2 then Bungie did of Halo 2. But now i do have my fingers crossed for HL2.

The games only been out for a few days guys - waaaayy to early to make a decent impression.

Finish the game on normal - then ramp up the difficulty to see how good you are :) (that's when the fun starts)

Plus co-op is still excellent.

Ya I started the campaign on legendary and it was just so hard it wasnt fun. The progress was slow and it would take me a couple tries to get through a certain stage. I then moved down to hard and found the action more fast paced and a lot funner when im not dieing because the cov have aim bots :P

I beet the first game on legendary though after about a week and I intend to do so with this one.

i intend to have heroic in the bag by half way through next week since i'm not going to 'whore it' like i did for normal.

Hmmm, well I replayed the first part of single player just a few seconds ago and I must say. At first I thought it was horrible, but this time I took my time and fiddled with weapons a little more, and now, I like it. I actually like it a lot.

It can be really good if you forget what made the original great and focus on the high points of this one. I still feel as though the duel weilding stuff is very over rated, but all the rest is good to me.

If I were to rate halo 2 here is how I'd do it:

Single Player= 8.5/10
Multiplayer=9.5/10

All in all its a pretty sweet game, thanks bungie.

The thing I hate about dual weilding is that I cant melee without having to drop one of the weapons and a cant throw a grenade. But dual smg's is great against grunts because you have have the one smg's fire and then when that is reloading have the other smgs firing and its just constant fire power. Howevor I rarely use this because then I am not able to throw grenades and grenades are much more useful then dual weapons IMO.

im replaying halo 1 atm on PC, and im doing it on hero mode. i tried it on legendary mode but it was just so f'cking hard... anyway, im on the covenant ship. im actually finding it pretty boring... its impossible to challenge the elites head on, especially the black ones, so instead i have to use hit and run tactics with my sniper rifle. but someday the ammo will run out... i cant headshot these guys forever! plus i find that im playing most of the level with 1 HP, soley relying on my sheilds. and this is on hero mode... is it possible to do on legendary mode? is it actually possible?

and warbie, have you completed halo on legendary? i might start again on normal, because although im perfectly capable of completing the game on hero mode, it doesnt actually seem that fun. just tedious. as soon as i get any reinforcements they just die... its really annoying.

another thing... is it easier on the PC? because i really cant see myself being able to beat halo 2 on hero mode without being able to nip round a corner and snipe someone in the head with a sniper rifle.. i fear that on the Xbox ill be spending loads of time fiddling with the analouge controls shouting "DAMMIT GET ONTO HIS HEAD!"

anyway enough complaining... halo is awesome.

Dual weapons are especially handy for taking out Elites on Legendary - and for dealing with a swarm of flood :)

but i cant have dual weapons in halo1 !!!

hey warbie, think you could come round and help me? we could plug my Xbox into my PC, and we could play co-op with me using the PC and you using the Xbox and a seperate TV!!

lol if you could do that that would own :D hopefully the XB2 will have a huge lead that will mean you can play multiplayer with PC owners and vice versa :D

I just beat Halo 2 a little dissappointed. Some levels had repetative level design and ended with the shittiest ending ever.

Multiplayer could have been easier with a ****ing server browser.

Me thinks the mouse and keyboard users would own :)

That would be cool though - more compatability and co-op pls games devs (it's very cool the way PC and PS2 owners can play FF online together - a sign of things to come?)

//edit - my Brother actually lives a few minutes drive from your house (works at Creative Assembly) I plan to move to Brighton sometime in the near future :)

Everybody says that about every game. Halo has had its own story, Farcry was repetitive, and Unreal Tournament is a completely different genre of FPS with a different goal.

Some levels had repetative level design and ended with the shittiest ending ever.

Multiplayer could have been easier with a ****ing server browser.

I dont think you've played at all. The levels are hardly repetitve in design and you dont play through the same area twice.

Multiplayer was easy, but you obviously did'nt "get it.

What is there to get? How hard is it to just make a server browser?

Having to make a friends list just to customise the game is rubbish.

And yes, there were some areas in the game that had the same level design and bland textures. Maybe you haven't played at all.
