If you're like me, you'll be excited at the prospect of exploration. The tantalising white page that lies just over the horizon; a place where no-one else has ever been before. That's why I love RPGs- they give you that rush, that thrill of discovering ruined civilisations, ancient treatures. It's much more intriguing than the real world; where things from over the horizon are beamed around through telivision boxes and the internet.

Much is the same In the Warcraft universe. I take pride in saying that I was a Beta tester, that I was one of those brave souls who fought my way out into the horizon, into the unknown- while everyone else sat watching trailers or reading snippits of info. I was an explorer, and I still am- passing up a good quest to simply wander to Alliance territory and poke around. But eventually, the thrill wears off. After all, WoW has been released for a while now, and pretty much everywhere has been stripped to the bone by the eager players.

But there is a flash of hope- a twinkle, somewhere, far away, over that horizon. And it's called Hyjal.

One brave person on the Silvermoon server broke free of the game's limitating shackles and dived into uncharted territory. The clip starts by panning away from the World Tree- and it's breathtaking. You can clearly see Archimonde's overwhelming skeleton, hanging limp from the tree, a contrast so great it's almost profound. And then you realise. You've never seen this before. No-one has. This is footage from the gaping white hole in your map. This is over the horizon.

So I emplore you- Watch this footage, of the world tree and the surrounding lands of Hyjal, then dig out your indiana jones hats, because exploration has never been so close!

**** me.

I always thought it might be there, just waiting to be discovered, but...jesus.

Where'd he get all the music as well?

i don't even play WoW (too costly) and you've already gotten me in an exploration mood.

Downloading the clip now...

*downloads*

i also love the exploration of WoW and the traces of the old games, such as mannaroths armour in orgrimmar, and the tribute to grom hellscream in ashenvale.

Thats pretty cool. But i'm totally over WoW. I'm sick of paying money to do the same thing over and over again only to end up endlessly broke both ingame and IRL

I went exploring myself yesterday. With my human mage, I went and waged a one man war against the forsaken in Trisfal Glades and the other territories I'd never been in before. Great fun. At one point, I got swamped by like 15 newbies, all of them jabbing at me, and I killed them all with my AoE spells. It was pretty funny :D

omfg I want "Galaxy of Starcraft" or something now... SC > WC

Tell me when the vidoe can be dl from filefront, then I'll see it.

I've been to Hyjal myself, it's an amazing place. Completely empty. The sight of Archimonde's huge skeleton is definately one of those "whoa" moments. I don't know if the video tells you how to get there, but if you want to know...

...go to Winterspring, and in the south there will be a place full of elite demons called Frostwhisper Gorge, similar looking to places like Burning Steppes. Take off all your armour, and do a suicide run through the elites. If you die, simply run back, res, and run a little bit further. you might want to map out where you're going as a ghost though, since there's quite a few paths you can take. Eventually, you'll come to a cave with a gate at the back, and the familiar green raid portal behind it (which basically means Hjyal == raid instance in the future). Lure one of the demons to the gate and have him kill you, then when you come back as a ghost, walk through the gate and res on the other side. Ta-da! Hyjal.

If you want to see a lot more unreleased content, seek out Exploration The Movie. Can't find a working link at the mo'.

If you want to see strange then go explore the "caverns of time"

I have been in there myself as it is actually pretty easy to get inside and believe me once you see whats in there you will start to really appreciate just what this game may become.

If you want to get into it then just go to its front door (its locked) and make sure you die right by the door from one of the dragons. Then when you are a ghost you can pass through the door and respawn on the other side. It will look like a normal cave at first but once you get further inside you can see that it is unfinished and extremelly strange looking. You can't even see the floor your standing on.

Heres some pictures of whats inside it:

Caverns of Time? Bloody hell.

Do you think they've left Hyjal like that on purpose? Because that's pretty ****ing cool, having this amazing place that's really hard to find but once you get in there, it's completely deserted and awe-inspiring: just a place to explore.

...Hmm...
World of Warcraft or Battlefield 2... What to choose...

If they didn't want people being there, why would they make it possible in the first place? ;) I don't know if they're really that keen on people sharing their experiences, but I'm sure they don't mind us exploring it.

Isn't there a rule where if you explore unopened zones, you will be suspened?

Yes there are. For example, the entire southern half of Silithus has never, ever been seen before. There are quite a lot of areas that haven't opened up yet, and are either going to be new high-level raid zones or even entirely new areas for once they ramp up the level cap.

whats the hardest monster in wow, and do you have a picture of it. I know onyxia was bad, and molten core giants worse. So who's your daddy.

*Mutters somthing about this being found ages ago, its nothing new, just someone went and made a pretty video for it*

You know what Suicide?

I enjoyed reading your little paragraph of description more than I enjoyed watching the video.

You are such a good writer man!

Well, nothing's happened to me so far, and I haven't heard of anyone actually being suspended for it.

Right now, it's Deathwing the Black Dragon. it used to be Ragnaros the Fire Lord, but Blizzard released Blackwing's Lair in the last patch. No one has managed to get to Deathwing yet, so no picture of him.

[edit]: ha, check this out: http://img176.exs.cx/img176/5045/size4cl.jpg The dragon is Onyxia, not Deathwing, though I'd imagine they would be around the same size (they're brother/sister).

Holy hell, Serious Sam esque bosses!

Screw Battlefield 2, I'm getting WoW.

Nothing new.... I have seen hyjal - use World of Warcraft Map Viewer- a program made by this one guy that you can noclip through the world. Not a hack just a different program

Yarr, especially since WoW actually includes Battlefield style arenas for 10-a-team CTF or 40-a-side mass objective-based battles.

I knew a guy named Zite once, he's one of the few hackers that have been to GM Island. He recorded a video, can't find a link atm, but he had a funny chat with a GM. Zite said he would tell him his hax if the GM challenged him in race from one side of the island to the other. The GM then banned his account :D

Talking about WOW i had a 8 hour raid last night got 2956 kills :D
it was in alterac valley only moved once for the tiolet lol.
Im lvl 54 orc hunter called Trojan if your on Azol-nerub server
wisper me. :bounce:

ty for the instructions. about 25 deaths (mostly in darkwhispergorge, rez->whack->die) later and i'm there :D image

You can get into all the locked zones in WoW, just find a path in the mountains or die/res like you do to get into Hyjal.

In southern Silithus there is a HUGE instance/cave thing. Me and 2 other people went in there and get lost, great fun :E

Then I got bored of WoW and quit :(

I dont get it, is this just an area of Kalimdor that hasn't been opened yet?

You never watched Indiana Jones as a kid, did you? :(

I heard they blocked it up now and now there are level 500 'Guardians of Blizzard' standing inside in case anyone DOES get in.

That was only during Beta, they were removed when the game was released. They weren't really very effective anyway, since players always formed raid parties and tried to zerg them to death. :D

Oh, believe me, I did.

What section of Kalimdor is Hyjal in, and how is it blocked?

For anyone playing on North American servers, I think they blocked all this out in one of the recent patches.

You can no longer die, then run through in spirit form and res...but you probably still can in Europe.

But one way to do it is server emulation. I created a server with some friends, and we went into Blackwing Lair and Mount Hyjal.

Fun:

Jumping off Mount Hyjal!!

How the **** do you do that, you can't get high enough in the beta's, to be able to do actuall damage. I went in the beta on a raid, I was lvl 18, I couldn't hurt any of the lvl 30 guards, not even 1 freaking hp point.

I was in the US closed beta, there were absolutely tons of level 60s. It lasted for over a year!
