WTF No Hammer in Offline Mode?

Why can I not use the SDK in offline mode? It says this game isn't ready to play in offline mode when I attempt to start it... And I know that its all downloaded because I had opened the hlmv and hammer earlier... This sucks, now i'm online and try to use it and it just says preparing to play and sticks there.

This really pisses me off because I'm on shitty dial up and its taken forever for me to download this and now I can't even use it. :angry: ;( please help...

Awesome! Now its saying no configuration to run with whenever I try to open hammer or anything in the sdk for that matter and there are no games for me to select at the bottom

Yeah, my internet cut off for a few hours and I couldn't even open Hammer. Very lame.

Sounds like you might have stopped it DLing the recent update correctly. I almost did the same thing (decided to try fix the RAD thing myself at the same time I restarted it and noticed the update) It went a bit iffy but fixes itself if you just let it do its thing first.

ah sorry but its working again... This is odd... I just went into the steam folders and found the sdk and just clicked on hammer and it opened offline... I wish i knew what the deal was lol

if in doubt, check the monitor (click the taskbar icon) sometimes though it wont say if its updating anything on it, so what I'll do is check the firewall which tells me if its doing anything under the hood, DL things (sometimes the taskbar icon doesn't change so its a good way to see whats going on)

And since there's been a lot of activity with updates lately, i don't think you've anything to worry about, probably just bad timing heh

Well, I think I was correct the first time around actually lol
It appears as though my sdk tools (hammer and hlmv) can not be used in offline mode. (can someone else please confirm this)

To my knowledge I have all updates and what not. Man this is a real bummer, I really wanted to learn hammer and make some hl2 maps but this is rediculous.

Anyone have any helpfull advice? I can't use these tools and be online too. My family also uses this phone line, and my 56k connection is more like a 19k connection due to noise in my phone lines... It takes me forever to download this stuff only to find out I need this or that also... Or that it just plain won't work.

Please Valve, release an offline patch for the tools (if thats even the case)
