I'm hoping not to get a biased result this being a HL2 forum but which would you reccomend for a WW2 Multiplayer game?

DOD:S or COD2?

DOD is having 2 new maps soon, whereas I doubt COD2 gets any updates with multiplayer?

Thanks.

I havent played DoD or DoD:S, but i'll tell you this, you will have much more fun on CoD:UO than on CoD 2. The one thing I really like about CoD 2 is the mantle system, and I really, really hate the trech gun.

CoD2 has lots of new maps being available for the Xbox360 (there's four that just got released (two are free)... Then 5 more are coming in July)

CoD2 gets lots of new maps to play with, and the total number of maps outweighs DoD:S to start with, I'm 99% sure on that.

I'm not sure when/if the PC will get those maps however... Maybe in a future patch.

CoD/CoD2 FTW.

All the servers I play on have trench gun disablerised :>

Get the Deluxe edition of CoD1... it comes with UO and the latest patches.

There's hundreds of custom maps and mods for the games, and best of all they'll usually get autodownloaded right off the servers... downloads usually take between 5 seconds to 5 minutes.

It's great stuff.

Although I do have some fun with DoD:S, it's only one server that I get any enjoyment, and that's the [HZ] Custom Map server.
Not worth the $20, but it's not expensive either.

Meh @ UO. Go play Battlefield, CoD don't need no tanks.

Edit - Although the single player campaign was ace from memory. Basing above comment purely on multiplayer.

cod (1 & 2) have a kind of 'arcade' feeling to them, by that i mean they seem somewhat like quake, ut and 'normal' shooters.. but i like it, it's fun to play.

dod:s is slightly more realistic and more of a challenge (though, give me a grenadier and i'm literally unstoppable ;)).

i'd have to say dod:s > cod.

I hated COD:UO...the tanks just kind of wern't my thing. CoD MP's just kicks ass though. Although DoD kicks ass!!!!

I have played both, and I have played both as a member in a clan.

So I know how both work, and pretty well. Honestly, I like DOD:S a lot better than COD. Its way more intense because the accuracy, damage and rate of fire in dod is all around better than in COD. Its just, so finely tuned. Whenever you should hit someone, you do, and when your aim is off, you miss. If you hit someone in the head with any weapon, they die, hit someone with a Kar98 shot anywhere but the arms and legs, and they die. Same with sniper. It really just feels more accurate. Plus the maps are perfect. They are mostly close quarters, so firefights are intense. They are laid out so flawlessly that once you know the map, you can easily master your movements to avoid fire/grenades etc. Also, all the weapon classes are balanced just right.

DOD:S wins imo.

I play DOD:S all the time. I love it. I have not played COD multiplayer. Just constant action with gun fire and explosions. Sounds are excelent as well. If you want a challenge you can be in front and try to push the enemy back. If you want to play easier then hang back in a building and kill enemies as they try to flank.

I play on 28-32 ppl servers all the time. Even on small maps like Flash. It's just great fun.

BF1942. Why. Because you can:

- Be an Anti-Tank soldier with a Bazooka, but can operate a Spitfire.

- You can kamikazie this Spitfire into an enemy tank.

- You can bail at the last minute, and shoot rockets everywhere.

- You can dive behind an ammo crate, which can absorb the kinetic energy of a tank shell without moving.

- You can keep throwing grenades at the tank while the ammo crate which so thoughtfully providing cover is also giving you unlimited ammo.

BF1942's infantry combat blows.
Therefore it loses.

Oh and congrats you just listed some of the reasons why playing BF1942 is no longer fun. :D

I play 1942 but only on singleplayer and on very few maps.

What do I do? I take a sniper and basically try and take out as many guys as I can. I run from post to post doing dives and shooting people slowly making my way to each flag. I do this with the full percentage of bots. Fun fun fun until a tank starts shooting at you. Then you have to run and hide till it goes away!
