Perhaps, and I realise this might be a particularly difficult thing to do, but just perhaps you could leave it. It doesn't deserve the reponse you gave, and actually I think everyone complaining - not to want to sound holier-than-thou (but I am) - just leave it alone and report it to a mod rather than getting pissy about it?
It's worse in the HL2 General Discussion forum because there they're always the worst little questions done to death ("when is teh lerease date?" F*ck off) This isn't so bad; just ignore it. Or at least be civil?
