So, a long time ago when I was young and stupid, there was a very short period of time when I did a fair amount of X (yes, the drug). Well, I suppose it wasn't too long considering the grand scheme of things (I was 19, I'm now 25).

Anyways, I've noticed lately that when I have a bit of caffeine, I feel almost as if I'm having flashbacks to when I was on X. Its by no means as strong as actually having taken it, but its just weird because I definitely feel more euphoric than I ever remember feeling after having some caffeine. I don't even really have that much - I usually have one cup of coffee a day tops. Also, I just had to stop myself from confessing how much I liked (platonically, of course) one of my coworkers... and I hardly even know him because he just started working the other day (he IS really cool though... but still!).

I remember hearing that MDMA stays in your system a long time (forever?)... do any other ex-X users get experience things like this?

Having a caffeine hit does not induce flashback's.

I remember an old friend who would talk, talk and talk some more when he had a shot of coke (can) or coffee. The guy didn't need drugs...the BASTARD!

Well maybe its just me getting older then... but I've noticed that increasingly, smaller amounts of caffeine are having a greater effect on me.

Where are you getting the caffeine? What's the brand of coffee?? I must have. Now. I've noticed the exact OPPOSITE as I've gotten older...now my habit is up to 1 XL cup, 2 LG, and maybe a few smalls when I get home, and that's just to keep me functional.

Never tried X, tbh, too scared of losing the one thread that strings my synapses all together...can't answer on the flashbacks.

Its not any special kind of coffee, just coffee in general. Lately its just the Dunkin' Donuts medium blend you can get at the supermarket, but I also have two other kinds I switch up with (they're local to Louisiana), and the same thing happens with them. I don't brew any of them especially strong either.

I'm guessing maybe the way my body metabolizes caffeine has changed? I've recently stopped drinking soda completely, so I suppose that's cut my overall caffeine intake a bit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the caffeine high is familiar enough with the euphoric rush of x to remind you of it, and make you feel like you're on it. I don't think MDMA stays in your system nearly that long, so I'm guessing it's just flashbacks.

A buddy of mine used to have similar experiences. Not provoked by caffeine, but similar.

Soda and Coffee manufacturers secretly slip in the drug to increase sales. I mean, they did it in the past with cocaine in cola. They're doing it now... but with ecstasy!

You're going insane. Quickly, grab a bottle of whiskey, a trenchcoat, and an mp5.

You'll need those when they come.

Excellent plan! I've got a bottle of whiskey, but I don't seem to have a trenchcoat or an mp5... How about two more bottles of whiskey instead? Will that do?

You'll have to compensate for the lack of firepower. By setting fire to a power station. Plunge the area into darkness so that you may set about your task!

Sure, drink enough and you can see anything.

I, um, know someone who used it frequently beween 18 and 27 or so, and she never experienced anything like that. If anything, it's harder than ever to attain that feeling (although she had a much deeper albeit brief episode of pure bliss with ayahuasca, and very similar with mescaline). I suppose if she laid off tha drinkin and took 5HTP supplements she could get the proper brain chemistry to regain the magic.

Anyway

Nah, it's only detectable in urine for 5 or 6 days if you're a heavy user. 3 months on a hair test, so that's probably about the maximum.

It's possible you're having some sort of flashbacks, especially if you did a lot of it. Ecstasy is quite a dangerous drug.

It's not that dangerous if you use it responsibly. It was making great strides in therapy before it was outlawed.

Yes, you're probably just more attuned to pleasure. A good thing.

*drives to supermarket*

Really? I thought I remembered hearing that it stays in your spinal fluid or something.

Here's what the MDMA FAQ via erowid has to say:

There is a lot of misinformation out there about MDMA. Here are some commonly heard rumors and facts about them.
Rumor #1: MDMA drains your spinal fluid, ruins your back, etc.
Untrue. This urban legend apparently started because some pharmacological studies are done by giving subjects MDMA, then withdrawing cerebrospinal fluid samples for analysis via spinal tap. It is "MDMA research", not "MDMA" that may drain your spinal fluid!
