Xen invasion = Self Defense?

You know, when I first played Half Life I actually kind of though the Xen invasion might have been self defense on the part if the Xenites. First, the G-Man clear spoke of taking over the boarder worlds, yes we were invaded but he sure had the resources on hand to procecute the war. (BTW, why is he called the G-Man, in the game they call him "The Administrator" don't they?)

Second, Nilanth (sp?) apparently knew Gordon was going to kill him ("Not you alone") and might have simply be trying to prevent his own death (thereby causing it in classic sci-fi style).

"gman" was the name of the model. It means someone that works for the government in some capacity (unless it's a nickname).

Actually, most evidence points to the Xen's invasion being retaliation against the large-scale 'kidnapping' caused by the accident.
After all the experiments before, that seems to have pushed Nihilanth over the edge. He started to actually invade only a while before the marines came in.

People used to think that the g-man was the administrator, but it turns out that he was only working for him. We will meet the real Administrator in HL2, at some point. Also, G-man is a slang term for a government man, like a 'suit'.

Nihilanth did have powerful psychic abilities. It is possible that he could see the future, but I think he only had a very good understanding of the present.

The G-Man's actual name may be Agent Coomer (From annotations in the HL code, I believe). Curiously, you can see this name on one of the lockers in HL.

Also;

One of the latest online playtest/previews seems to think that Dr Breen really is the Administrator. However, they could merely be speculating.

I dunno about the first one. If it's that hidden, it might not be "official".
Plus, It's not very threatening at all. :P

Also, remember the letters in the various instruction manuals? Memos from the Office of The Administrator are signed "lm".

Another nice assumption, causing dozens of theory's, but there is only one correct.....

what does that mean? "lm" :stare:

Has anyone heard this message over the announcement system:

"Agent Coomer, report to topside tactical operations center"

Coomer is on one of the lockers because its the name of one of the programmers at valve - Greg Coomer. The names on the lockers are the names of the Valve team.

Thats probably an easter egg in the SDK 'Agent' Coomer
