That was one of the first things Valve actually said about HL2. I believe they said gamers didn't like Xen so they are leaving it out.

Personally I hated all the jumping, but I wouldn't mind seeing if they could have made it a little better for HL2

I think a _short_ visit to Xen would be awesome. Just think the possibilities what they could make Xen look with the Source engine... Like, 500 feet tall tentacles or something.
But didnt Gabe or Doug or someone say that
