Yet another &*()-tease from valve

I get a memory error right after the 2 page loads (the one after the valve logo) and then a crash.

Running:
Athalon XP 2000+
1 GB ram
ati 9600 XT

I'm at loss

Reformat and start fresh. I did and have no problems......You should of been prepared for the launch. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you . Maybe a corrupted file from millions of people dl at the same time?

I put a fresh install of XP about 3 wks ago

I have a 2 day old install of XP, and NO problems with any other software. Have you checked to see if any of your games in the Play Games menu are trying to download currently. If you right click on each one in the play games menu, you will get a percentage -- if it is less that 100%, then it may be causing your errors. Large nubmers of people at HL2Fallout have reported that finishing the waiting downloads (especially if they are for HL:S or CS:S) fixes thier memory /graphics and crash issues.
