I'd look for a monitor along the lines of what I have. The Sony G500 21" CRT displays up to 2048x1536 at 75hz. I play most games in 2048x1536 and it just looks incredible. It's not technically HD since the pixels don't interlace but the resolution is higher than most anything out there...
