I tried to start a new character today but can't save with him? And when I try to overwrite a save from my other character it just deletes the save?

Can I have more than 1 or not, any help please? :(

I have been using three different characters for a while now. You should be able to...

Well.. yeah, theres only 1 Quick and Autosave, for all characters.

This is just when you go into your saves folder, make new folders for each of your characters, and copy-paste all the save files, swaping them whenever you want to play your character.

Screw that. Use the console. Just type:

save "Your Character's Name"

Then, it will show up on the Load menu under that title. Also, when you overwrite that save with another one it will keep the same name. So, just keep saving each character under the appropriate name and everything will be fine.

There's a save manager out that lets you switch between "accounts" kinda thing.

Argh, I hated accidently overwriting the quicksaves of my previous characters.

I have 2 saves for each of my 5 characters, I didn't to any tweaks or anything, I just saved.

That wont keep your Quick and Auto saves around.
:P

I just use the normal method to save and make sure to check my character names. I keep one for each of my three characters. Ill use four or maybe five while I am playing but I get rid of ones I don't need before I quit. Never had a problem with the save game system yet. I would like a character switch button similar to KOTOR 2 though.

With all the attention to detail Bethesda has put into the game, I'm very surprised they left out a 'Profile' option for this game. Guess everyone of their tester's did it on their own seperate comps :/

That thing stopped my autosaves working.

Way off. It was easier for them to make it for console gamers.

True, but even for a console gamer it makes sense to have seperate profiles. Just look at Fable.

How did you fix it?

It grabs each profile by the autosave. I had three characters; Kyo (Mage), Ruri (Thief) and Togra (Warrior).

It grabbed each three in turn and I launched under Kyo. I entered a cave which should have triggered an autosave and according to the game it did. However when Umbra kicked my arse I was at a loss as to where the autosave went.

I was thinking of whipping up my own prog in Vbasic. All it does it copy the files to seperate areas and alter the oblivion.ini accordingly. I'm thinking of just copying the files for each character to a temp folder and moving the files around when the user selects a different profile.
