At the end of the round, I see it says that the winning team gets 2x the points. Now is that only for the commander or the whole team?

BTW: No Intro + No-CD patches rock!!

I was thinking the same, my brother thinks its the commander that gets the 2x score, but I'm pretty sure its the winning team that gets it.

What no-cd patch? How can I get it?

It's just the commander that gets the x2 bonus as far as i know.

^Ren is correct. This had me stumped for a while when the game came out.

Thats kinda lame... oh well.
And you can find the No-CD and No-Intro stuff here.
The No-CD works by you mounting a fake, 19MB CD image which looks like it's the legit disk (aka: fixed image), so it's not really a patch at all since it dosent replace any files. You need Daemon Toolz or something similar.
And the No-Intro patch lets you back-up and remove the intro movies and logos. These 2 togeather allows for instant login.

And no, they don't invalidate your install and can't be used to play a pirated copy on a legit server, you still need a legit install/key. And I'm pretty sure, since they dont replace the exe, that you can still patch just fine with no conflicts.
Their just really nice to have. Devs/Publishers making you have a CD in is an ancient anti-piracy measure which has been bypassed since day-one. So now, it's only an inconvenience for the legit players. They should learn better.

Why the hell do you need a program to take out the intros when you can do it in 1/2 a second..

Just go into the mods/bf2/ folder, and rename the "Movies" folder to something....mines Movies.Ghey

But anyway, yeah, it's the commander that gets the 2x. But it is worth it, since they only get points baised on the team anyway. His score is the AVG of the rest of your team. He's usually really low on the chart, and if you don't win, usually that is only 20-30 points...not worth it generally.

You need to use the latest Daemon Tools.

Yeah, it's only worth being commander if you're going to win. That's about the only way to get medals as a commander.

CyberPitz, re-naming your entire movie folder might be a problem. I was under the impression that welcome.bik needs to be accessed by PunkBuster? Maybe since it can't read the folder it reads it from the CD, hence the requirement for the actual CD.

What I do is re-named every except welcome.bik and menu_loggedin.bik (I don't want blank screen behind) into [whatever].bikky.

i've..never heard of punkbuster needing that...oh well..if thats what it takes to keep using the CD..I guess I'll keep using it. And I get the mini-images to work now..BF2 just crashes every time

I just renamed my movies folder and I've never had a problem with punkbuster...
