So if you already have a 360 this strikes me as a particularly good deal. Sure, HD-DVD is going the way of the dodo, but to get the deal for 5 free HD-DVD movies with the add-on, that makes it roughly $10 each for 5 HD-DVDs that you are getting, so who cares what format they are on?? Its a great deal!!

Source.

I heard it's great for upscaling DVDs.

Unless the 360 already does that, and if it does this is worthless.

That does seem like a really good deal. Plus all the HD DVDs are priced lower too. You just would be stuck playing it off that drive, seeing as Blu-ray is the one people would be buying now.

I'm not sure if Toshiba is still doing the 5 free HD DVD's, but if they are, that's $50 for 7 movies and a drive. Even for a dead format, that's a DAMN fine deal.

Well Microsoft recently pulled all their 360 HD-DVD drives off their site....

....and announced they're developing a bluray add-on!

Even for a dead format, that's a DAMN fine deal.
Exactly. Depending on what movies you could get this would be awesome. It makes little difference what you play it on because it is still 5-7 HD movies for a damn low price.
