Ok... I'm new here. Hello! I searched this problem for an hour on Google and while a lot of search results came up, I still haven't fixed my problem.
I have my computer hooked up to my living room 5.1 sound system via the optical port on my motherboard. When I switch to 5.1 in HL2, it automatically switches back to 2 speakers. I updated my Realtek audio drives and that didn't fix the problem. I switched the send digtal to 1 in the config file. I tried the legacy console command and it didn't recognize the command. I tried closing the program for my other soundcard (Delta 66) and that didn't fix it either.
I have a Gigabyte DS3R. I have a M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard, but I currently have the Realtek updated and set to default.
Can someone help me with this? I think I'm having the same problem in some other games as well. Thanks.
