64-bit processors before halflife2?

Hey are we gonna be able to buy computers with 64-bit processors in them before half-life2 and the other good games come out? How much improvement can we expect in these computers over 32-bit processors? And how expensive are they gonna be?


btw: If someone wants to sum up exactly what it means to be a 32-bit processor or a 64-bit processor so I could understand it a little bit better I would appreciate it

ok most application are 32 bit. 64 bit are a thing of the future that are being made as we speak(type in our case) halflife2 will utilize the 64 bit capablities of processors cabable of 64 bit computing your should see a 15-20% increase, more or less depending on everything else in your machine. 64 bit applications are like running on a different freqeuncy in a way. althon64 will be 64bit and 32bit capable.

Edit: someone correct me or clearify because i too am a little fuzzy on the 64bit capablities.

You can already buy Opterons, so there are already 64-bit processors before HL2.
