:upstare: well, I guess that isn't saying much. ;)
But seriously, the graphics aren't bad for something less than 1 MB:

A couple of things to remember: Firstly, according to the game's homepage this game has no textures or levels whatsoever- everything is procedurally generated. Secondly, this is a tech demo- so don't expect dazzling AI or super-duper level design.

Anyway, try it. It'll blow you away.

This is 2 year old news.

Impressive nonetheless.

It's new to me. :P

Besides, its neat to see procedural texturing in action. especially with spore on the horizon.

Meh, I remember playing it a while ago and it wasn't anything impressive other than the fact is was under 1mb. But yeah, that's about it ... and IMO Doom 3 looks better than this.

This is crazy old, but still very amazing.

I remember playing that back in the day...but it ran like crap before. Now it runs much better.

Played this like a year ago... the screens look better than it actually does ingame.

This game? less then 1 MB? GET THE **** OUTA HERE.:rolling: I got to try this! BRB

EDIT:
OK tried it. Quite impressive that they can do all that with less than 1MB, however the game sucks ass, face it. The concept? Brilliant.

That game would look good on your resume.

Im impressed.

this game is increasing the heat of my prossecor when i run it

I'm pretty sure several developers have been inspired by these tech demo. Several next-gen games are using precedual methods in one way or the other.

If you register and look at Will Wrights presentation of Spore (4th one from the bottom), he gives an interesting Data Vs. Precedual just before the main topic of his talk, suggest listening it

My graphics drive overheated after 30 minutes of play.

The main purpose to using procedurals is to save storage and memory space - neither of which are major concerns these days.

Have you not watched the Will Wright Spore video from GDC 2005?
Procedural development has many advantages.

And the idea was never to "save" space, but to challange yourself to see what you could do with a limited ammount of space. 64k is the usual challange in the demoscene.

Yes, I understand the idea behind the demoscene. I was referring to mainstream game development. And no, I haven't watched the Spore presentation.

Heh yeah I've played this before. Its kind of fun actually, and looks damn good for 96kb.

I know I sound like an idiot but what does procedurally generated mean?

Everyone's saying it's less than 1MB. It's less than 100kB! If somone asks you how much does... bubble gum cost, you say it's less than a dollar, not less than 10 dollars :)

Impressive.

I always said it's less than a million ... am I wrong?

D:

I can't believe I wasted 50 bucks on this shit

I just downloaded. Amasing. I showed my mom:

"Hey, c'mere, look. Okay, I'll play though this game... just watch."

*I play game then exit game and load up a 120kb picture.*

"That whole game takes up less space than this image. Neat, huh?"

"Mm..." *Walks out the door.*

It is awsome, 1 problem.. if say vlave where able to do this with all their games and still have them as awsome as they are, well everyone would download the games off steam. In the future it has major potential to **** up store retail, especially when games get so immense they will need to use techniques like this to keep the size down, so great for developer's I guess as they can totally screw the publisher.

The thing is, other than Spore, this will probably enver be mainstream, since it uses so much processing power to perform.
