Hi, sorry if this is a repost but, i have a xfx 128Mb FX5600XT GFX card which is fully DX9, but HL2 shows as DX8, but software DX9?

How do i get to play in DX9 mode?

I think its "mat_dxlevel 9" in the console, press ~ or ` (left of 1) to get it, if it doesn't appear, look in control options under advanced.

But I'm sure Shens will be any second to link you to many other places you could of found out.

You might want to know in advance that you'll get bad performance. Valve decided to default to DX8 for FX cards because they perform terribly with the advanced shaders that DX9 provide.

Mine runs perfectly, I have everything on high and I get 35 fps.

I admit I expected it to be choppy as hell, but it runs great.

I don't see how...

I have a 5700 Ultra and it runs 20 fps and under w/ DX9

You can also right click on the Game, go to Properties and then click on Launch Options and paste: dx_level 9 in there.
