A long shot? (MP)

Icarus: Does it have multiplayer, if so what are they?
Chuck Osborn: Counter-Strike Source is the multiplayer.

Icarus: Only CS:S, no Deathmatch?
Chuck Osborn: Only CS:S
So, HL2 only has CSS. Ok we know this... but:

Icarus: Did you get to play HL Source?
Chuck Osborn: Yes.

Icarus: Can you tell me anything about HL:Source?
Chuck Osborn: Nope
Maybe a long shot... but what if HL2 doesn't have DM because its in the HL:S port? I.e. A direct port of the old DM. Would seem very strange if they didn't port it considering how easy it (apparently) is to covert stuff over, and that they are doing all the other mods OpF, BS, DoD, TFC, etc.

Would make buying the original port more appealing wouldn't it?

Quite possible. A revamped HL multiplayer seems more reasonable. Sven Coop 2 is all the HL2 based multiplayer I'll need.
 
very long shot. they are putting a lot of emphasis on cs:s, and have made no mention of any dm.
 
I was thinking the same thing when i saw the CS:S is the only multiplayer thing,but then we wouldnt have the manipulator in DM, and thats the main reason why i wanted HL2 DM
 
they said hl : dm was to be converted to source. If its in its no surprise but its a straight port.

i am not a modder or mapper but all i hear is how easy it would be to add a DM/TDM/CTF mode to a game (the game being HL2).. now i am thinking.. if its that easy...why isn't Valve doing it then?

okay.. so maybe its included and everyone is being secretive about the MP.. ? but why? its not like the MP would ruin the story of HL2 or something.. sadly i feel that CS:Source now is the only official MP of HL2.
 
Though I recall they said that HL1 DM wouldn't be converted for the first release but would be added later.
 
Quite plausible- Valve have said they'll be porting other HL-based games to Source, so they'd hopefully decide against omitting the MP aspect of HL:S when HL2 has no themed addition set in the same universe.

Still want some user made mods; pity they'll be a while. SDK was meant to have been out an age ago, and failing that before the game; man, a lot has been going on...
 
I say we gather together a couple coders, modellers, and mappers and make our own HL2 DM.

Pretty much all we'd need is a bit of basic coding, maybe some new models, and a bunch of maps. We could probably just use all of the in-game models... Gordon, Alyx, Gman, Combine Grunts, etc... Same with the weapons.

hmm.. ya know with this possible discovery of CS:Source being the official HL2 MP, Valve better release the SDK with the game because with holding it will only annoy fans more than they probably are.

only reason why i say this is because of the recent history of no SDK at release of games such as Far Cry and Doom3.
 
There's going to be the Team Fortress 2 announcement after HL2 is out as well remember, so prehaps they are focusing on that.
