In a perfect world there would be no question whether NiGHTS 2 is coming out for the Wii - it makes too much sense.
 
lol its so obvious the the first pick is photoshopped haha. ive never even heard of the first nights game.

That'd be great Hunter. I suspect this maybe an April fools 'joke', though.

The thought of NiGHTS with the wiimote is, well, let's just say gaming doesn't more exciting than that :)
 
Never played the first Nights. Must admit it. Sorry :(

But the Official Nintendo Magazine had a teaser in the back of the last magazine with a load of stars, with a caption saying something like "It's Comming". When you join the stars up like some astrological signs it draws out the NiGHTS character. Doubt a Magazine would pull an April fools joke, people would be pissed if they bought the magazine for that and foundout it was a lie.
 
It's not an April Fool's joke and as Ren.182 stated there was a hint of a new game in the Official Nintendo magazine with an outline of the Nights character to be revealed next issue. They were asked if it was a joke and they said it wasn't.

I would say it's 99% likely that it is coming out for either the Wii or the DS.

Why was this NiGHTS game so awesome? Was it just like Sonic or something? I see it's from the sonic team..
 
Nights was just lovely to play - flying around was graceful and everything looked lovely. It was one of the first games to use analogue movement (it came with a special pad) and still one of the best examples of it done well. Usng the Wiimote to fly around could be awesome.
 
As far as i'm concerned, any new game for the Wii is cause for celebration. I love my Wii.

Ah, good thing I looked, I was just about to start a thread on this. Good looking out, Warbie.

So the first image is definately fake, but for a magazine to devote their cover page to an April Fool's joke would be absurd. A strategy like that would simultaneously do two things: 1. Crown Game Reactor as the undisputed kings of video game hoaxery (even EGM only put in a tiny blurb for Shen Long), and 2. Make them the most hated gaming magazine on the planet. Unless they've got major stones I don't think they'd risk the unmerciless backlash from fans of NiGHTS.

Furthermore, the Official Nintendo Magazine had a teaser for what looked like NiGHTS in THEIR April issue, to be revealed in the May issue. "Step back in time as a classic game makes a long overdue return." And despite Yuji Naka flip-flopping on the issue a bunch of times, he HAS said in the past he'd like to do a NiGHTS sequel.
 
See, i'm trying not to believe it now to avoid possible disappointment. Part of me also thinks Sega could balls it up - they aren't the company we all used to know and love. Then again, this is a golden opportunity to make something very special. Sega still have some of the magic (VF5, Outrun 2, Orta ...) and the Wii almost seems made for NiGHTS. It's like gaming destiny!

I'm thankful I've all but grown out of video game hype. I still anticipate some games and have enthusiasm, but I tend to maintain skepticism these days. On the topic of Sega products the only thing that could reduce me to raving fanboy levels of hype is if they announced Dreamcast 2. :LOL:

But yeah, I know where you're coming from. NiGHTS is beloved, everything was so perfect the first time around. This rumor being the first possible sequel, it's been spared franchisement and the taint that comes from it. But then, on the other hand, y'know...NiGHTS...on the Wii...

Anyway, still a rumor. But if it is in development, I wonder who's handling it? Yuji Naka and his team at Prope, or Sega themselves?

It could be screwed up - who would have thought they could screw up 2d Sonic? There's a charm present in the orignal NiGHTS that's very rarely found in video games. Take Ico - very simple game, yet 100 developers could try and emulate it and completely balls things up.

*also makes looping motion with wiimote* - you do have a point though. Just waving the wiimote around and pretending you're playing Nights is fun.

The interview doesn’t give many details, but if you really want to know:

*There will be a 2 player mode (it isn’t specific)
*Special online functions
*It’s an exclusive to Wii
*The game will be officially anounced in beginning of April
*Nights is the primary character and he has a set of new abilities
*Other character details will be revealed in the coming months

Edit: Apparently the site is being overloaded with users, I assure you there are screens and the game looks amazing.

Other than the main character model the game looks incredible, especially that last picture.

I think my heart jumped. Did you guys spot the name in that last screenshot? Takashi (misspelled Takeshi) Iizuka. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL DESIGNERS. It's not Naka, y'know, but I kinda knew it wouldn't be. Also the guy responsible for Sonic Adventure. He's Sega USA's R&D leader.

Two player mode. If I can play as Reala in split-screen or something...ah shit how can I be a skeptic about this game at all now? And I was so good at being a cynic, too. :LOL:

Anyone remember Christmas Nights? That was FREE!! And one of the most played things on my Saturn.
 
I never played it, but would love to havea quick blast. The same with christmas hats and stuff?
 
Yeah, pretty much... I've forgotten so much about my Saturn games, though, I can't describe it well. There wasn't much to play through, iirc, just a snippet of the full Nights game, but with tons of unlockable content (just little bonus stuff) depending on stuff you did. One of the presents was a FULL 3D WALKAROUND mode which just blew my mind at the time, because you had complete freedom within the level and could just mess with those little bulbous midget things (forgot what they're called) and find loads more to hatch. Were those creatures in the full game...?? I forget.

It also responded to your Saturn clock so it was kind of good all year round. More of a really cool little time killer than an actual game, but it killed a lot of time for me back in the day.
 
The graphics are nowhere near what the Wii can push out. In that last screenshot there's a total of 6 segments in the cylinder for the cuff.

I'm sure things will be spruced up before release anyways - this should be a smash hit for the wii and deserves serious attention.
 
Are we completely sure its EVEN coming out? I mean, I looked it up and it looks like most sites say its NEVER going to happen.
