Hello all you crazy modders!!
I have noticed that a few people have mentioned mods based on films/tv programs and other cool topics with copyrighted materials and names.
Due mainly to the bitchy and pathetic nature of a lot of the big studios some people who love the topic they are trying to make a mod are being told no, you can't do that, its not yours to make. Well here is my little guide to making these mods happen:
I think you can get the general idea!
Now remeber kids, keep it as similar as you can go without being cocky, this way you will annoy the pants of the studio/publisher/whatever but they can't do anything!
Final TIP
Once the mod is finnished releace it, its a cool mod, peiople like it, then! OOPS, one day a hacker named annon hacks into your personal files and finds a zip file containing an installer file with all the data needed to patch the mod with genuine names/sounds/models/trademarks etc etc etc HOW UNFORTUNATE!!!
Just don't go putting any readme files in it saying anything that may incriminate you or others involved. Then u can just claim that the zip was personal backup of a personal file for personal use, and there is no law against that. Its like the DVD copying law! As long as its for personal use!

- The name: call it something similar but not the same, for example, the stagate mod could have been called the Star Fence mod!!
- The visuals: Props that will identify the mod to its topic can be made to look very similar, but they need small design diferences, but only if they are unique. For example, A Walther PPk pistol is not a unique object to bond, so use it at will if ure making a bond mod. However if you are making a mod on Stargate, don't go making a stagate identicle to the one in the show!! Make it egg shaped and with genuine egyptian icons, they don't have any copyright issues!
- The sounds: just don't use recordings make ure own and remember no use of copyright names, unless your name is the same as the character, then u have just as much right as they do!!
I think you can get the general idea!
