Ability to upgrade packages?

I just purchased Silver edition off of Steam. I'm satisfied with my purchase, but have a question. Let's say I want Gold edition in the future. Will I be able to upgrade to Gold and just pay the difference? I was thinking of asking for Gold as a holiday present, and would prefer not to spend another $100 on it. Thanks!

Well, ATI users can upgrade their coupons [Bronze] so I'm assuming others will be able to.
