Company: Sega Europe
Job: Functionality (QA) Testers
Location: QA Building, West London (nearest tube: Gunnersbury, nearest train: Richmond)
Duration: Fixed term contract (up to 3 months with possibility of extension)

Generally I'd say this is an entry-level job where you don't neccessarily need any previous testing experience, provided you can demonstrate a general understanding of what game testing is about. There are details of the shifts on the website via the link I have provided. If successful, you'd be working on anything from handhelds like PSP and DS to PS2, PS3, Wii, XBox 360 and PC.

The general atmosphere is pretty laid-back, no strict dress code, people are cool here and you get regular breaks. Job satisfaction is good, pay isn't amazing. You can weigh up which is more important to you. If you want a career in the games industry and industry experience is important to you, this is a good opportunity.

If anyone applies send me a PM as I get some monies for successful introductions! :p

(I'm also happy to answer questions via PM)
(if I get the monies for successfully introducing you to the company, I'll be happy to spend some of it on buying you drinks!) ;)

Probably a nice little money-spinner for any big FML fans just leaving Uni and needing a first job while they figure out what the hell they're going to do with their lives! Or just a big FML fan looking for a quick buck.

Company: SEGA Europe

Duration: Fixed term contract (6 months)
Salary: (GBP) IIRC it's 20k pro rata DOE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* First line support for SEGA title, focusing on both e-mail and phone support for upcoming MMO title

* Liaising with SEGA departments regards customer support escalations

* Assisting in updating and maintaining Support Base with FAQS/ troubleshooting steps / information.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Have an excellent working knowledge of both PC hardware and operating systems (primarily Windows XP and Vista but familiarity with all Windows packages is useful)

* The ability to work under pressure while offering an exemplary level of support

* Self motivated and able to work on own initiative

* Demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team

* An interest in both PC and console gaming across all platforms is preferred.
Not sure why PC and console gaming interest is preferred, since FML is PC-only. I would ignore that bit. Basically if you can take phone calls and reply to emails without pissing people off, you can write clear and accurate reports into a customer services bug database and you know what you're talking about with FML, you probably have what it takes.

Neal Stephenson Needs a Lead Game Programmer

Subutai Corporation is looking for a Lead Game Programmer. We are building a studio to create games driven by the deep, involving stories and truly innovative, visceral , realistic game mechanics. We need a Lead Game Programmer who will be principally responsible for technical leadership in building our first big game, and our studio, and who at the same time is a generalist – capable of wearing many hats, often simultaneously (some of them silly looking).

Subutai Corporation is an employee owned startup, founded by Neal Stephenson, the author of Snow Crash and other bestsellers, along with a crew of seasoned game industry veterans. Our team includes the creators of some of the biggest game franchises of all time, multiple best-selling authors, a few legendary programmers, and some of the world’s greatest living swordsmen. Subutai’s first product is The Mongoliad (available now at www.mongoliad.com) which has been hailed as “the future of the book” by Fast Company magazine. We offer equity, competitive salary and benefits, and a generous financial stake in the products you’ll be helping to create. Better than all of that, we are building a creative environment without parallel. We are based in San Francisco and Seattle.

Principal responsibilities of the Lead Game Programmer will include:

• Collaboration in pre-production and ongoing design, along with designers, artists, writers, and production
• Providing innovative ideas across all aspects of the game, and for the Foreworld universe in general
• Development of technical requirements and implementation management
• Actually building stuff (prototypes, game, UI, and controller integration programming)
• Hiring, development, and management of junior staff
• Engine modification, scripting system tweaks

Requirements:
• Substantial experience with the Source engine, either a senior programming position on a shipped commercial product or a significant mod
• Substantial experience with a range of animation solutions
• C++ fluency
• Experience in rapid prototyping and iterative design.
• Comfort working in, and leading an agile development process.
• 5+ years experience in technical and people management.
• Keen understanding of game mechanics and an appreciation for the role of story
• Self-motivation, results orientation, and a positive attitude
• Ability to handle stress and rapid change.
• Great communications skills, particularly with non-technical teammates.

Desired:
• Credit on a shipped AAA game in a lead/senior role.
• Experience in integrating custom controller hardware.
• Experience with scripting languages.
• Startup background.
• Passion for games and speculative fiction.
• Background in any formal study of body movement or body mechanics, including martial arts or dance (any styles)
• Bachelor’s or equivalent in CS / Engineering.

Please send resumes and brief cover notes to jobs -|at|- subutai.mn

If you've got a DSL conection, you can work from home as a videogame hardware/software help desk associate for several industry client companies at alpineaccess.com
If I had access to DSL, I'd be doing this alooong time ago. God I hate where I live.

Includes benefits, 401k, and anywhere between $9.00-12.00 per hour.
Cannot do this job on wireless broadband connections. Must have DSL.

EDIT> Hell yeah, I just got an idea. My sister has DSL, so I'll go apply at her place and if I get hired, save up enough money until I can afford my own place.
