AI testing...

Has anyone here created scenarios and then spawned Enemy and friendly NPCs to see how they react? I'm intrested in seeing just how good the AI is...

You better hurry up and do it, and then be sure to take like 500 screen shots of the funny ways that they fall ontop of each other in poses that connote intercourse, then you have to come back to this site and post each and every one of them with a title like, "omg this is so funny hahaha"

Spawning them doesn't work well because then they aren't grouped in squads. AI is quite amazing, too bad people don't give it enough time to work its magic and just gun 'em in the face.

I think he means making a small custom map with tactical obstacles, and spawn some civilians in groups on one side, then spawning some Combine in groups on the other side, then see what happens.

I've done it once. I forgot to group them, so the two sides hit each other the way a brick hits a similarly-projected brick in the exact opposite direction. There was no cohesion between friends at all, so it was fairly boring to watch.

I would sig that. But Bliinks post is just slightley more hilarious.



And as said above, just spawning them doesn't work. You need to make a map with nodes so they know where they're aloud to go.

wow, youre quite jaded. you must have been lurking for longer than you post count signifies. not an insult, b/c i lurked for quite a while myself.

All I know is that 2 dozen fast headcrabs will own against 2 antlion guards. However, without nodes they won't do anything else but attack in a straight line (they just stood there and got shot by a strider cause they didn't know where to run to).

You need to make a map, put in the NPCs, assign them squads, insert info_nodes, and then compile it in order to make the Ai truly works.
