Spoilers inside...

I was thinking about the ending of HL2 and the start of Episode One. Is Episode One an alternate reality? I clearly remember the ending of HL2, where the G-Man stops time and brings Gordon back in his dimensional limbo.
At the beginning of Episode One the scene repeats itself, but the G-Man is stopped by Vortigaunts before being able to abduct Gordon.
Talking about dimensional travels, space-time distorsions, resonance cascades and so on... alternate realities should be fresh water :)

No, Gordon was already in limbo before the Gaunts got him. The gaunts rescued Alex first, as she was left to die.

You may be right but I have to watch again those sequences. Something doesn't convince me.

The opening scene was a bit odd. Did the vortigaunts give you a vision of them rescuing Alyx?

NO NO NO YOU ALL GOT IT WRONG

Remember before the blast, on the way up, gordon shouts THE LAST PUFF! and takes some smack before fighting breen again.

The Vortigaunts surround Alyx and vanish, bringing her to safety. In my opinion, the oddity starts when the G-Man advance towards Gordon. It seems that the Vortigaunts stop him before he pronounce the speech that we remember from the ending of HL2. The G-Man says "We'll see about that" and some other Vortigaunts teleport Gordon away.
I have a feeling that the whole part of the G-Man talking to Gordon and leaving the limbo has been skipped. Anyway, Cheomesh could be right in telling that the limbo sequence of HL2 has already taken place after the Vortigaunts surround the G-Man.

No, the Gman returns to stasis to see Gordon. It isn't within the same period - it's several hours after.

I see. Well, there is one more interesting thing to notice: a group of Vortigaunts is able to stop the G-Man and strip Gordon from stasis. The G-Man is an exotic, weird and fascinating being but it's not so powerful as one can think; other extra dimensional creatures can intervene in its plans. It was not too obvious.

And now it looks like the vortigaunts are as powerful as the G-man. What a sucker!

You don't really expect anyone to show up in a place outside of normal time and space, I don't think.

I still sort of think it was too early for Gordon to be taken out of GMans control...

If i'm not mistaken, the begining of Ep1 is the first time G-Man looks....Worried,confused,whatever. The dictator being fought, so to speak.

Vortiguants stole it while rescuing Gordon, I heard there was pr0n in it :naughty:

OK, I watched the sequence again and it seems you are right: you can see a white door opening in the void and the G-Man emerging from it, just to be stopped by Vortigaunts.

Maybe the Vortigaunt mugged him. That's why he's so pissed.

Wait, actually they did! Gordon was his property, right? And now he's gone.
