so we got a screen shot from aftermath, lets see if we can decipher what it may mean.
- it may be a sequence at the very start of the game where freeman and alyx have to escape the citadel
- it my be an assault on another citadel
-it may be some assault or escape from some other completely different combine building on earth with the same architecture
-and no, i really hope we don't have to fight stalkers

Its definatley them escaping, as Marc Laidlaw said in PC GAMER they are fleeing City 17 because the citadel is going to meltdown.

I analyzed the screenshot, and came to the conclusion that if you told me the screenshot came from the original Half-Life 2, I probably would have believed you.

I would have believed you as well, because there is the same walkway with guard/stalker when your in the pod ascending upward through the citadel :P

well, the citadel is obviously still (partly) standing- it won't be another city. Maybe race X are coming?

They arnt. they are not part of the half life storyline and were merley cannon in OP4. Marc Laidlaw confirmed it.

Why do some people believe that race X is coming back? They r never coming back.

I also have to agree with u about the picture being from hl2 instead. The only thing that look different is the eye of the combine soldier.

All the screenshot confirms is:
- We fight in the Citadel
- Stalkers will be there (we may fight them, we may free them)
- Valve have done a reskin job on the Soldiers - we don't know the reason for the differentiation. (new eyes, new symbols can be seen on the uniform)

However, all 3 of these facts were already known if you've seen the PCGamer article... so this is a pretty big let down...
I'm not sure the forum needs another thread to discuss a screenshot that tells us so little...

The word "over" should have been appended to the thread title.

This thread isn't nearly as bad as the one that tried to (over)analyze Valve's use of the word "Aftermath", then stating that its abbreviated form - AM (don't ask me how you get AM from Aftermath) - had some symbolic value to it.

all this things are confusing me i just hope i dont need a guide book when i'll be playing my own HL2
