in episode 1 all the npcs and scripted animations see to be skipping frames and theyre all jerky as if they were playing at half speed, even though my fps is in the 70's, lowering the gfx doesnt help and i kno there was an update on the 21st of march 2007 that was supposed to fix jerky animations but i still got em. the only thing i can find about the problem is 2 other post on other forums with the same problem, but they dont have answers to them. i dont get this problem in HL2 only the expansion and it rly kills the game when i see alyx moving around likes its doom 3d (well not that slow but still)

Where did you get the game?

Reinstall it.

Verify game cache.

Buy the real thing because it's only $10.

i bought it through steam with hl2, lost coast and hl2:dm. ive reinstalled EP1 and it didnt help and neither did the verify cache

Dunno what to tell ya man... Make sure steam's up to date... Check your video card drivers... Actually... Gimme your specs.

Motherboard: S775 Asus P5b 965b PCI-E

Cpu: Intel CORE 2 DUO E6600 2.4G/1066/4M/S775

Ram: Corsair 667 DDR2 NO-ECC 1G Twinx C4

Graphics: Sapphire PCI-E Radeon x1950PRO 256M

PSU: ATX12v 450w Raidmax

and im using tray tools, but switching to CCC doesnt help, using the 7.7 lastest drivers, changing in-game and ATT gfx settings doesnt help, its rly annoying cuz this game is supposed to be about enhanced animations

Try turning off one of your cores. Source doesn't quite have multi-core support yet.

i changed my drivers from 7.7 to 7.5 because 7.6 and 7.7 dont really do anything for my computer but it didnt changed the problem. setting it to one core doesnt help, i dont thing its really a performance problem as much a glitch or bug. it really kills the game completely though. i neeed to fix this

This was a common error for a week a couple of months ago. It was fixed in a update.

apparently not for everyone, steam updates my games automaticly and the 21st update is in the history

ahah i fixed the problem by deleting the episode 1 folder under my account folder in steamapps and setting the game to not update automaticly and then running the game once, to recreate the folder, then setting it to update.
