And not a single word about this on ValveTime website/facebook/twitter.

It's not really valve territory here. Valve didn't do anything so...

We occasionally mention third-party tournaments, but it's not exactly core news for us since it has very little relation to Valve outside of using some funds from community chests and the fact it uses a Valve game. We're not remotely knowledgeable or specialised enough to cover these events in any real depth, and there's plenty of eSports focused websites and apps out there that do a far better job than we could ever do. Covering them on a regular basis on our social media and front page means we'd have to cover pretty much all major tournaments for all three of Valve's active titles in order to provide a fair and balanced spread, which is a significant amount of work that, like I said, we likely wouldn't do justice.

I don't even know what a katowice is, so i'm ok with it not being reported on here. Lots of hatin' on VT lately, so I'll chime in and say keep up the good work bros. I'll keep stopping by to see if anything actually important is happening.

Thanks, but I'd say there was a lot of hate spread throughout the entire Valve community these days, and for various reasons.

I don't come here for the E-sport news anyway, there are other sites for this such as Ongamers, MLG and ESL.
Keep up the good work with the Valve news here!

You're more than welcome to post about it on our forums in the appropriate area.

If you haven't seen it by now, Katowice is the city in which the latest CS:GO major was held, ESL One Katowice 2015. They also hosted one last year, EMS One Katowice 2014.

I watched the event, it was incredibly well done. NiP did an incredible comeback on Inferno but still fell to Fnatic. I'm still relatively new to the CSGO pro scene, the Dota 2 pro scene has become very unstable and fickle making for frequent roster changes, it's somewhat irked me.

From someone who knows the CSGO pro scene better than I do, I'd be interested to know if there is are specific tournaments / events which are significant enough for us to cover? I read about frequent betting scams and players being banned, I guess these are quite important too, but it's always about the connection back to Valve directly, not just the CSGO pro scene (which does a fantastic job at supporting itself without Valve intervention I must say!)

The specific events you're talking about are called "the majors" and happen a few times a year at the largest European tournaments. CS:GO broke 1 million concurrent viewers at the most recent major in Katowice which is a very major achievement for the franchise. The cheating and betting scandals (which are two separate things) also rocked the pro scene and were major news a few months ago.

I would criticise the lack of coverage on Valve esports but I don't have the time to post that news either so I can't say I blame you all!
