It's rated R here in the states so I suppose that would be a rating of 17 or 18 in Canuck land :E

I'm not necessarily excited but it'd be a great movie for sure. Ridley scott is teh win

15a in europaland, the reviews sound good generally, acting is average but the scale of it and battles supposedly make up for it, its caused controversy, a british historian called it 'osama bin ladens version of the crusades' :O

My mum saw it tuesday, she said it's an ok movie, kinda like gladiator but not as good.

Every review I've read said that Orlando Bloom is a bad actor - a point I've been stating since every film he's been in after LOTRings. He's pretty, but he's like a plank of wood on the screen. He's worse than Keanu Reeves, at least Keanu Reeves can carry an entire film on his back, Bloom can't.

He has potential though.

woah, lets not go too far, reeves is pretty dam bad.

edit:eek, iwas just down the newagents and had a look through some film mags and newspapers, its getting panned particurly bloom.

heres a quote:
highlight: the aforementioned neeson. The mans a treasure
lowlight:Bloom is so wooden he should have played the horse in troy.
who would you bring to it:a muslim fundamentalist.
verdict:weary epic and an experience closer to purgatory than heaven
rating:2 stars.

Hmm, I'm interested in this film, but worried about Bloom's woodenness.

And "Osama Bin Laden's version of the crusades"? What idiot historian could come up with that? I heard that when the crusaders got to Jerusalem they butchered allcomers, babies and all. That's from the A level history class in my Roman Catholic school. No matter how bad Scott makes the crusaders look, there would be no distortion.

But whatever, I want to see some battlage.

True that.

Personally, I can't wait. Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors.

Actually most movie that are R in the states are 14a here in Canada, unless they're extremely violent/full of sex/etc, then they're 18a

Looks alright, nothing wonderfull storywize

Boy becomes knight
Knight leads army to stuff
Knight gets laid.

Pretty much how I think the film is, please correct me if Im wrong :)

I'm really surprised so many people want to see this. I just watched the trailer for the first time and didn't even finish it, looks boring and uninspired.

I would of prefered an anti-hero approach to the film. A kind of mix-mash story of several different people, several different perspectives. Not this save the day bullshit.

I agree, but thats hollywood... they never make decent films. (well, very rarely)

No, it's the people who think others should die becuase they believe in something else, they are the poiseness ones to the world. Get it straight.

Worst film I have seen in a long time. I almost walked out but didnt. Terrible Writing, terrible plot, terrible editing and very mediocre directing. All that was good was the acting and the last defensive battle. Thats it. This movie also aggrivated the hell out of me since its not really a true story I was pissed the **** off when Bloom said no to the greatest thing in the world for everyone. In the end people clap for him yet he was the one responsible for everything that happened to them.

The crappy king was so stupid and evil that I really couldnt see that ever happening. He was insanely retarded and the movie had no real justification for why he did what he did.

Best line- "You are your fathers son" It was so funny but then I realized it was serious. Thats a give away to the shitty script writing.

haha by saying "you are truly your father's son" they meant that the son acted like his father, they didn't mean it literally. I saw the movie on sunday, and I didn't think it was all that good. It might have been a glorious movie in its unedited version but the first 3 quarters were edited down so much that the pacing was off, things happened too fast, and the audience didn't get what was happening. My advice is to wait for the full length DVD, because they'll probaby give you the full version on there. There was no problem with the director, the story, or anything else in my opinion. It was just the editing that killed an otherwise great movie. Also I don't think orlando was right for the part, the movie company forced bloom on ridley scott to get the teen audience to see it. Ahh what a shame. Also it was nothing like gladiator, for all those who keep saying it is. Battle scenes in it still r0xor though. And the last quarter of the movie you could tell wasn't edited off too much so that part was really good too.

Yeah I agree, except I think there are more reasons why the movie was bad besides the terrible editing. I said the same thing but didnt go in as much detail. But the movie was terribly off pace and all over the place with the random cuts to different random scenes and stupid "framy" slow motion sequences.

You strike me as the kind of person who cries when they poop.

Sometimes I wonder why God had to be so cruel as to put me in the same little dot as these pompous-pennyloafer wearing malcontents who get no pleasure unless they ruin something for someone else. I wish I had a really big hand and then I would just *flick* these party poopers right off the planet. I think I would get a medal or a plaque atleast. I would settle for a kindly knod.

When I go to a movie I don't go to try and hate the movie, I go to try and like it. I don't sit their and pick apart every last crumb of error. Maybe you're pulling your underwear up a little too far.

Sorry...

I enjoyed it. It didn't further any religion as the better, which is good, and its certainly not a movie that should aggrivate people in modern times regarding Islam and Christianity.

Long story short, I went, I paid, I sat and enjoyed it. Certainly didn't feel anything like Milkman did, who probably hates all movies except the really lame ones ;) since he picks apart everything like seperately they mattered.

I was thinking the same thing. After the disappointments that were Troy and Alexander, I wasn't really looking forward to another medieval movie about one man making the difference in a historic battle through his leadership qualities.
