It's really rubbing it in. I don't know I should even bother playing the game on my computer:

1.7ghz, 256mb RAM, Geforce MX440 (Yeah, I know!)

And all those people saying "Could I run it on my 3.2gz processor?" - rubs it in! :(

My computer sucks too, 2500+ @ 3000+, 512MB DDR 400, 6800 GT :/

It is still better than mine, by quite a bit, but still, I guess it's not too great like the others. Nice to know!

Yes, but probably on the lowest for everything...

Here is the thing. Your computer is just fine. It will run HL2. You just won't see all the cool stuff and it will look like shit.
I know, I have turned everything off and tested it.
Bye bye.

Actually on my 1.5ghz 512mb 9800 pro comp i get good fps in css with everything on high at 1024x768 hopefully i can do at least all medium in hl2.

Good to know :) I'll probably scrape 10fps 640x480 with everything on low by the sounds of it. Something to look forwards to :D

The only thing thats going to kill me is my pos graphic card. (geforce 4 mx 420 64mb) Everything else is pretty high, 2.5 ghz, 512 of ram. Hoopfully I'll get a new graphic card in the coming months.

2500+, 512 megs of ram, and soon to be a geforce 6800!

yup, shit. :cheese:

A good graphics card and 512 RAM would make a pretty decent comp. Shouldn't cost TOOOOOO much.

yeah mine only: P4 2.4GHz, 256mb Ram, 9800PRO.
Thats the first time i posted my specs like this and now you know why.

No, but Ive been there (I had a VERY crap computer when HL1 came out), and it will still be OK. HalfLife (and HalfLife2) was never about the graphics so much as the story, and interaction with other characters/environment. And hey, you could always put up an ebay auction offering to show the winner a picture of you beating HL2 (and maybe even Gabe would bid on it -- you never know :D ).

If you had a better video card, you'd run at 800x600 in medium settings just fine.

Talk about a bottleneck - should have spent more money on the processor. You'd easily get 50% more performance if it were an Athlon 64 3000+.

You're _way_ too bottlenecked by the 2500+.

Get a 9800 Pro instead. Look at this Anandtech graph with an X800. Even the XP 3200+ is shameful.

Seeing as I went straight from my 486 DX2 66 to various laptops, this is my first PC that even has a graphics card. I remember the "old days" when they became necessary to play games... I thought it was totally unreasonable.

CS:S tested on 2,8Ghz Pentium, 256MB RAM, GeForce 4 MX 440 - only directx7 (so less pleasure for the eye) but 111fps in stress test. So enjoy the graphics a little less, enjoy the physics and the plot. Have a nice day and definitely buy the game.

Thanks, I guess thats quite close to my specs minus the processor speed. What is the stress test? (Sorry, I was one who missed the whole CS Source Beta thingy-bob)

Incidently, how will the requirements compare to Far Cry? I could BEAR to play Far Cry, but admittedly it was quite sluggish on the extremely vast landscapes. Still, hopefully HL2 will be similar or smoother. (Well, I can hope atleast :))
