Saw HBO on Cable in a long time and the movie being shown was "How to Make a Monster". Now imagine if Valve and VU HQ had this happen lol what would you guys do?
I had seen this topic earlier today, and while I was browsing through channels, it was on HBO It was entertaining, but it wasn't the greatest movie I've seen The game they were making was pretty crap-tastic, and a lot of things in the movie were pretty cheesy. And yes, it would be horrible if something like that happened at VALVe...imagine how long the game would be delayed
For those of you who didn't see it, here is an outline of events:
- A game company is racing to make the next big game.
- They decide that the key to such a game is to make the game scary (keep in mind, they are trying to market this game to kids, this isn't Doom 3 or anything. Throughout the show they treat games as if they are for kids only, actually.)
- They hire a crew of only 3 to make the game in 4 weeks, and offer a $1 million bonus to whoever can come up with the scariest monster.
- One of the programmers has an "AI Chip" that somehow starts to finish the game by itself while he is working on it one night.
- The computer begins to play the game, but it is attacking people in real life.
- The programmer is killed, and turned into a terminator inspired killing machine.
- As the programmer kills more team members, they are also turned into robots/monsters.
- It turns out that the guy who appeared to be the leader of the game developing team was actually a spy for another game company.
- Everyone ends up dying except for the assistant, who goes on to be the main game designer.
Even though my outline seems long, it still leaves a lot out. If you're bored and you have HBO, this could be something to hold you over for a few hours while you wait for Doom 3 and Half-Life 2
