Barney is dead?

I'm look the Episode 2 trailers but I don't see barney.barney is dead ?
 
Just because we don't see him the trailers, does not mean he is dead.
 
Not yet, maybe later. Maybe he's the character that's going to die in EP2? Many fans wouldn't like that.
 
Its an idea that keeps getting back to me. Perhaps he dies? It would be a great blow, but think about it. We wont play with him anymore, he has too much of a personality and fame to be able to blend in. A VALVe FPS in wich you talk? That would suck. Still, i would not be that affected if he dies. After EP1, he doesnt seem to be that important anymore.
 
I'd like to see him taking on more of an active roll.

In Ep1 Alyx quite happily wrestled with zombies, you can see a Vortigaunt do something similar I think in one of the new Ep2 trailers.

Why can't we see Barney out in the forest doing a bit of hand to hand combat?
 
I would think they would release what? One screenshot of him before release? Definitely too early to dismiss him as dead anyway.
 
Hey, Lamarr wasn't shown in the trailers either..

Well I wouldn't rule Barney dieing eventually, i would be pissed off as he is an awsome character, but if he was to die, he should die either saving your life or dieing for something vital, that would give his character a clear purpose in the Half-Life story, because yeah I agree, he doesn't have any significant purpose in the story yet.
 
Barney, whilst not exactly pivotal, has a huge role in the Half-life universe. He spent a week and a few days fighting in the Street war, pushing the Combine back to the base of the Citadel - an entire week of fighting. He was pretty much leading the rebellion at that point, and without him we'd have been lost.

In Episode 1, we clearly see Barney as tired, groggy and battle-weary. When I saw him I actually felt sorry for him. Barney dying would have a huge effect on me, and I can see it happening.
 
Not to mention working undercover for quite a while (?) up until the beginning of HL2.
 
Yes. But he needs to show what a kickass combine killing machine we all know in his heart he is. Follow Freeman and Exit 17 wasn't enough. I also agree with Samon, it was awesome seeing him like that in Ep1, tired and dirty. I love the guy, he must not die. Then I'd rather see Dog die.

Dog is awesome why him... he, like barney, is the comic relief in the story ( which i guess in the horror flick the comedian usually gets it first ) if anyone I'd rather see Dr. Mosman die... i hate that bitch, she cant choose whos side she wants to be on, rebel, combine, no wait rebel... shit

I don't want him dead fs...don't misunderstand. I just meant he's seen in the trailer and that he's my favorite caracter/dog/machine :P

You would like to see Judith Mossman die. In other words you wouldn't care if she died or maybe be happy if she did. That would be killing her off just for the sake of doing so, there is no point in doing it if noone will care.

My point is dog has had his moment(s) to shine, he's saved Gordon multiple times, he helped Gordon and Alyx get into the citadel and from the looks of it he's gonna be doing the quickstep head to head with a pissed off strider in Ep2. Barney needs something like that too! Mossman I wanna see more of, just like Barney. Besides, Barney is such a great tie to Black Mesa, he needs to be further established as such before he kicks the preverbial digital bucket.
 
I'd love to see Mossman in EP3, in the Arctic. She's a great character.
 
Yeah she has a good realistic character to her, loved her performance Black Mesa East
 
Yeah, Michelle Forbes is a pretty good actor, saw her both on Prison Break and Battlestar Galactica, she did a good job both times.

Yeah, M.Forbes voice acting is incredible! I'd really hate to see Judith dead (still I think she will at the end of episodes). Barney would be a good choice imo. Send a bullet to his head when he's making one of his reference-to-older-half-life-games-jokes!

Yeah, I'd say Mike Shapiro as G-man is better simply because that voice is so brilliant and Robert Culp is the best but after them comes Forbes.
 
I think Barney should go out doing what he does best. He gives you some ammo, and then walks into enemy fire unknowingly.
 
Nah. Id say that Barney is either gonna take a bullet for ya, or he is going to go down after some totally critical piece of equipment or technology that will turn the battle for Earth in our favor...

Its sad to think that such a guy...he almost seems like a life-long friend to me, will die, but I definatley feel it in my bones and in my heart that Barney will pass on before the episodes are over...
 
i dont know... if anybody i think that Mosman should die... just cuz i dont like her... it will probably be some one we least expect, of corse there are only so many main characters... maybe it will be alyx and she comes back like the white wizard in Lord of the Rings dose and kicks far more ass then ever imaginable! like at the beginning of the trailer you see her holding on for dear life and gordon dose close to nothing, then she falls and every one thinks shes dead then the beginning of the second trailer you see her like "dead" or unconscious with the gman and he says "your not supposed to be here" and he brings her back more powerful then before because she is supposed to help you with something but because she died she eventually has to go back after she fulfills her purpose of helping you defeat the combine in the end of E3 or something... just a theory, and i think at least a very good one for just now coming up with it...
 
That has to be the WORST theory Ive ever heard...
 
Reminds me of Stargate (1994 movie), with all that revival stuff. But I just say Alyx is unconscious.
 
Wouldnt it kinda ruin the whole immersion thing if someone died and then came back to life to help you from god knows what reason....

Well, HL is set in the real world. And in the real world, if someone is dead for mor than a minute or two, they can't be revived.

If that was to happen I wouldn't bother playing any furthur, thats probably one of the shittest things that could happen
 
I keep telling you guys, man, Barney's gonna bite the dust. I'm calling this one. He's going to die right in front of you, and he's going to say something like, "Sorry I was never able to get you that beer, Gordon." And then he'll expire.

It will be incredibly, tear-jerkingly sad.
