Battlefield 2 v1.3 Patch and Dedicated Server Out now

I guess I'll have to say goodbye to solo heli...

Forgot to add that no Squad Hopping = FTL!

Everything else in the changelog is good though, looks like Dice finally put some decent work into this patch, even though they 'fixed' a couple of things that really didn't needed to be and made the game fun. :(
 
solo heli is still in - i fired up singleplayer a minute ago and I was making solo hits and switching long before the helicopter nose dived
no change at all
the vehicle on demand is awesome as is fighting 48-1 on 16 player Karkand - it's ridiculous :laugh:
 
You cannot change squad and spawn on a squad leader when your dead without spawning at a flag first.

So basically, as it happens in a real game - when all flags are lost and you need the living to make squads, you must spawn on a flag, die/suicide, then select that persons squad to spawn. Well....thats a tad silly if you ask me. Co-op sounds good though.

Yay! I wonder if this will affect solo gunning though? But since you said it takes a while to go in effect then probably not :D
 
No squad hopping is a good idea but now its absolutely impossible for the US to win on wake...

It all depends, the Chinese have a big natural advantage in that the J-10's > F35B's. However, if just one blackhawk can sneak onto the Airfield (it's a ghost town there after 5 minutes) then the USMC can pretty much secure victory as long as they hold that flag.
 
I can easily sneak a BH into the Chinese airfield (just fly really, really high). The problem is it's too easy for them to get rid of you.
 
Once again, another f*cking useless patch from the monkeys at EA. I, along with thousands of other players, still cannot play this game due to random lag. They've released more than 10 patches but they still haven't bothered to fix this. Pathetic. I want my $50 back.

Err... if I were to guess I'd say the problem is on your end. If there truely were thousands of players experiencing this problem, odds are Dice would've posted a solution or fix to this problem.

is it video or ping lag
If it's the former, defrag fully

If it's ping related manually update punkbuster, type pb_sleep 500 followed by pb_writecfg in the console, rename the .exe and stop the wirelesszeroconfig in services.msc
that might help and they are all reversable if not
worth a try
also run a tracert just to see that it isnt a problem with your connection

There's a lot of changes, some for the better but some for the worst. I'd give at least a week for the patch to settle in before we get an accurate representation of how the patch will change the game.

Does it go down on a parachute or just slam down on the ground? Or not from the sky at all but just appear on the ground?

Parachute... Looks like a supply drop.. So far I've seen pickup trucks land on three people.. But haven't seen anyone get one that actually needs it yet. :|
 
about the random lag spikes, i found using a free reg fix tool can stop serious spikes, along with the punkbuster cfg command and write cfg u should be ok playing, also do a virus scan using all ur av software and antibot and adaware in safemode, if you havent done before then you will be surprised.

Yes, and of course, they can be dropped anywhere, including on buildings. fed up with the lethality of your SVD? Call in a vodnik and rain down .50 rounds from the roof of one of the many buildings on karkand.
 
GD this sucks the game won't run now, any server I click it loads up until Join Game and then I click it and it just crashes to deskstop

(and no don't tell me that bs-y usual things like defrag/scan) etc becaues it's not any of that, it's the patch, i've been playing battlefield 2 since it came out and nothing has ever gone wrong with it.
 
Restart? Re-install?

I haven't had any problems with the patches itself so far... :o

Hm... been skimming the TotalBF2 forums and it seems like it's Jeep / Vodnik carnage. I'll definately have to try being commander with the insane vehicle drops (crush some snipers, bwhahhahaa) before it get's patched up. I think the vehicle drop is a great idea, but Dice just forgot to put restrictions on it :p

Excuse me for trying to help you, I'm really sorry, but I had the same problem and restarting my PC fixed it.

Ugh I knew there would be a downfall. So now if you've got yourself a homely little spot in a shrub somewhere relentlessly picking off enemy troops - you're no longer totally safe. Of course before the commander could always spot you and hope one of his teammates would hunt you down, but that wasn't surefire. Now he can just drop a jeep on your skull. Damn... :frown:
 
It's certainly raining vehicles all over the place.. It's utterly ridiculous.. I'm glad I'm not a sniper.

Although, Unfocused and I did just spend 30 minutes dropping them on each other in a 1 on 1 commander carnage session. Lol..

As broken as it is, you got to admit it's pretty damn funny to have death by falling vehicles. :laugh:
 
Just played commander for about an hour.. Got 7 or so kills with falling humvees. They're good to drop on top of helicopters that are fixing up on the helipads too.
 
How do you get the bots to work on listen LAN? There's no option in the server config screen. I'm guessing it's a console command.
 
to get the bots working you need to set the multiplayer map from conquest to coop
btw do kills with vehicle drop count on your stats?
 
I'm pretty pleased with this.

So far, from what Ive played, this patch is alright.

Main thing seems to be that the servers kept on crashing all the time.
