Benchmarking?

I am fairly new to this board, I just have a quick question.
I read something a little while back on a site i think it was, about a benchmarking hl2 thingy that were to be released prior to the release so you can see how itll run on your comp.

I have been searching these boards but didnt find much, so well is there going to be such a thing and if then when?
