Well now that the PC Mags have reviewed HL2 (Wasnt PC GAMER issue supposed to come out last week?) When are they going to show real benchmarks? For some reason I didn't trust the VST too much considering it was a very cramped environment compared to some of the VERY open environments in the actual game. If any of the mags did do benchmarks can someone show some info? Or is that not allowed?

None of the mags have done benchmarks - they didn't really have time as all the reviews were done at Valve HQ.

Unfortunately, there isn't any further benchmark tools planned as far as I know, so the VST is the most accurate thing you're gonna get... Other than CS:Source of course which should be of the same graphical standard.

I think the Cs:s gfx are a lot worse then the Hl2 gfx. The models and stuff in Cs:s compared to the screenshot models of alex gman etc are not comparable.

Why a benchmark and reporting tool wasn't made public is beyond me. Well, maybe not, I guess it would have taken some time... but I would have liked it ;)

That's because if that level of detail were to be braught into a 128 player CS:S match all computers this side of Neptune would implode.
