best place for uk hl2 pre order

i hope this is the right place to post.

i want to pre order my copy of hl2 soon, i was going to do it from gameplay througth the above banner (might help suport hl2.net in someway as they would have refered me to gameplay) but i noticed that the note saying add first class postage to get the game on the day it is released is no longer there. I though this might have been cos they have meet that expected number of units on the first day, and can no longer bost release day devlivery.. anyway....

can anyone recommmend a place to order hl2 where i can be quite sure i will get the game on the day it is released?

I've preordered from play.com - decent price (£27 delivered). I mainly did that because its a shop that I like to support, since they do great deals on DVDs etc.. but I doubt that they'll get it to me on the day.

yes, medal of honor, got day before release
and every other game i have prordered from there was received on the day of release, apart from Vice city because i accidently selected free shipping :bounce:

The last three games i bought from amazon.co.uk, most recently Medal of Honor Breakthrough I have recieved on the day of release. Most of the DVD's as well.

So I'd suggest amazon personally, free first class despatch over £20 or something

play.com deliver after a week. i live right slap bang in london and they can't seem to deliver something faster than 5 days. it's stupid in some cases, i had to wait 17 working days to get a copy of command & conquer generals. 17 freaking days!! i haven't ordered from them since, i had a succession of loooooong delivery times. i've ordered from amazon.co.uk, i've preordered from them a lot recently (last game was Republic: The Revolution), and i've preordered Halo, and i should get it on the day of release, if not the day after. it'll be pretty much the same with HL2, i haven't tried gameplay, are they reliable?

why preorder it when you can just visit the game store?

ive never seen any game be sold out on its first week.

and hl2 aint gonna be the exception.

I have ordered off gameplay, good shipping options to get me it at discount and on my doorstep.
With regard to Play, cause it comes from Jersey it will take a bit longer. I still expect a relatively early steam release.
