Big Question about HL2???

I was just recently thinking, and came up with a reasonable idea that is quite possible thats why im asking u guys to see if it could be true. Ok, HL2 is suppose to preload today, and its suppose to go, gold very soon(cross finger :cheers: ), and then when it goes gold, it gets handed over to VU Games for manufactoring and distrubition. Well this is the idea, well since you will be able to purchase HL2 on steam, is it possible they will release around the day it goes gold because, well steam is a online thing, and you can get HL2 online, so necessarly it doesn't have to be published through vu games am i right , so can it be possible that it may become availible to steam people before it hits selve?

They won't release the game to steam pre-orders the day it goes gold, but they could vary well release some more preloads in the time between going gold and its release date.

i have a feeling some stores may do what they did with doom 3 and start selling advance copies.

but at least with steam we can play immediatly when its released

Valve can't release games through Steam before the release of the retail box. Vivendi would never let them. Think about it, why would Vivendi let the profit slip through their fingers by letting Valve release the game first.
