Blocked ports, any alternatives to register?

Hey, i just bought half life 2 but i cant authenticate it because my uni net connection blocks the ports steam needs. Is there anyother way to register the game? if you have any ideas on what i can do i would appreciate it greatly.

Hi,

Being in exactly the same position and aving contacted Valve I can tell you that there is no other way to do it you MUST connect to steam at least once, though at the moment it would seem you can't even do it once and activate offline mode. I played the game for 30 seconds after carting my system round a mates to activate only to discover that the servers were to busy.

If anyone has worked out how to get offline mode working I would love to hear how.

i cant even get steam to load up .. even when im online or offline ... regardless of how many times i re-install it ...
